I'd had a very 'meh' run on Monday and then yesterday was just a totally sucky day. My boss called to confirm my redundancy meeting and whilst I knew it was coming, it still made me feel rubbish. As a result, I had two large gins last night before I went to bed and half a pack of Cheddars, the cheesy biscuits, you know the ones.... Definitely NOT keto and not a good idea the night before a run.....
Didn't sleep well, thrashing around all night which annoyed my two dogs and my daughters cat who all wanted to sleep on the bed last night. George is very intuitive and knows when i'm in a grump so he wanted to snuggle....
End result - got up at 5.30 and thought xxxx it, I'm going for an early run.
So glad I did!!! I knew this meeting today was going to stress me out if I didn't clear my head so I put everything I had into this morning's run. There was no short stride or baby steps today. Stuff that! My usual shuffle became a full on hustle and I smashed it. Even had a bit left in the burner on the final stretch which was on an incline!
One more run and that week 9 is mine
Hope everyone has a great run today, beep beep!! xx

Thank you so much! Right now I'm happy to be fit and unemployed than just unemployed ππͺ
Just wanted to say a massive well done on getting out there and smashing this morning's run. I'm under the threat of redundancy too (found out two weeks ago) and it is such a blow to receive. Running does clear your mind of your worries, though, for half an hour at least like you say. I wish you well with the meeting today and don't even worry about the cheddars...I succumbed to a big fat pizza when I got my news so cheddars are a very small bump in the road in comparison π
Well done! Sounds like the perfect run! Sorry to hear about the job situation. Running can only be good for your mental and physical well being. Week 9 here you come!
The early bird caught the worm! ππΌ I hope this fab run puts you in good steading for your meeting. Hold your head high Burkey, better things are coming ππΌ
Well done getting up to RUN after gin AND cheddars. Good observation! βFit and unemployed rather than just unemployed.β I love it. Good luck today.
Well done you -and so sorry to hear about your job. It's a hard year hey - and doing this running has helped me with no income since march and just 2 small jobs since march - being self employed. It was always work work work and my health went on the back seat....now there is no work, my health and running is massive for me now health, mentally etc.....you will be be stronger for this - I am getting there !.....We had another massive knock back from the government with no events/conferences etc for 6 more months - I do agree on that to be fair, we need to get the country back - i just hope they will support us!....but for now.......lets keep on running !
Really well done for getting out there with all that sh1t going on πββοΈ Youβre absolutely smashing the running π Hope today goes/went as well as can be expected and then you can plan for better things ahead π
Sorry to hear about your job situation, that really does suck but its amazing that you've used running to help distract yourself from the situation just for a little bit.
Good luck on the job hunt and let me know if you need any help with anything at all. I'm sure you'll smash anything you put your mind to like you have with this programme.
At least you'll have more time to run! π€·πΎββοΈ - sorry, probably too soon for jokes!
Actually Kish, that really was my initial thought π I'll get time to finish the programme and do some consolidation runs before I head back to work which is no bad thing. My problem is that I worked in Aviation and the jobs just aren't there right now so I need to side step into something else. Just need someone to give me a break and accept some transferable skills π€
Burkey I love your passion and enthusiasm. They have helped us all when things were tough. Iβm really sorry about the job news. I have no doubt your positivity will shine through and lead you to bigger and better things - including smashing week 9!!! That book deal is just waiting for you.
If you knew how many times I've started and failed a project you'd laugh! Starting to realise that sometimes though, you just need a great group of people around you even if just for emotional support, to pull you through to the finish...this programme has taught me about way more than just learning to run..it really has been a revelation.
Love and hugs right back at ya ππββοΈπͺ
