So - this morning I set out slightly later than my usual dawn start! My son is staying with me and wanted us to run together, but did not relish the idea of running that early! We compromised and set out just before 7.00 a.m.
How wonderful to have my son running with me this morning! Because it was a slow run, we chatted now and then and he told me how proud he was of me for my running 😊.
We followed the same route I took last week and it was lovely to be out in the early morning. This was my Zone 3 run and my son struggled to run so slowly. The kilometres slipped away and as we came back into the village, he ran ahead to get more of a workout! I started to encroach into Zone 4 as I upped the pace a bit around 8K. I wanted that 10K and a PB! New tarmac on a side road helped a lot. For the last km I knew I was running in Zone 5. Oh yes!
Ended up running past my house to make up the last half kilometre, but suddenly there it is! 10K and a new personal best, as well as a PB for 5K. I’ll take that, thank you very much!

I have never run with anyone else but had the idea a while back that it would be nice to do a parkrun with my granddaughter when they start up again. She is 13 so still running the shorter distance but she would obliterate me!!

Well done Jools2020, sounds like that was a great run, 10k is a very impressive distance, nice to have company too for part of it.....I thought you were going to say that you caught up with your son and overtook him.....like the tortoise and the hare.....wouldn’t that have been good, not that I’m saying you’re a tortoise of course 🙊😂
Thanks 🙏 it was a good run! Haha, no chance of overtaking him once he took off, he’s a bit speedy, but he was surprised that I did manage to speed up at the end for the last 2 km. His son is even faster. At 15 he has youth on his side and I had a quick look on Strava just now and he did an 4.75 km run at a pace of 3’ 46”!
How lovely to run with your son and isn't it lovely he's proud of you! Another 10k done, how exciting! I've tried suggesting to my son that we run together when he visits later this week, so who knows!
