R2 Slog.

I ran, well shuffled(!) W4R2 yesterday evening and true to form as I’ve mentioned before on here it was a slog. R1 and R3 always seem easier somehow, maybe it’s because if I’ve done ok on the R1 I’m over confident on R2 and therefore by the time I’m on R3 I’m not expecting much and it turns out better again I don’t know all I do know is it took real effort to keep going. But keep going I did and I’m rewarded this morning with a slight twinge in my right calf but a days rest and copious ibuprofen should sort it out.

I’ve also though got W5R3 coming up that I’m not looking forward too, I’m not usually pessimistic but it seems to be looming on the horizon ominously, I’m mean if I’m struggling with 5mins now what’s going to change in the next 9 days?!

Anyway in a more upbeat note I’ve only got one more run this week and I’ve bought ordered myself some new underwear made from bamboo and has special Lycra panels on the inner thighs to stop chaffing (don’t ask!!), don’t panic all you out there I’ll not be putting on a fashion show when they arrive but I’ll give you a review.

Good luck to all that are running today and the rest of this week, especially all like me who have W5R3 looming!!

Week 5 run 3 is actually a 1 minute LESS training session that week 5 run 2 😁

I’m just heading out to start W5 now. I never thought I’d get this far and like you it’s R3 that worries me. But having read everyone’s advice on here and with the great support I’m absolutely determined that I will do it.... and so will you!

I had initial niggles with knee, shins (still a bit on my left one) inner thigh but had gait analysis and new shoes too and that’s all better now. I’ve never drunk so much water in my life 😂 warm up before, stretch after and am just sticking to the plan. Oh and I go very, very slowly 🐌 🤣

Good luck with your next run, we can do this 💪

Well to think I struggled running for just 1min at the start shows we’re getting there. Liked you comment about your speed 😂😂😂. I try to go slow but bring talk isn’t easy.

How was W5R1 then?

I'm sure you will be fine on R3, it's all in the head isn't it? Or in the pants??

Hi Jcksam, have you completed R3 yet? You've gone quiet.. Hope all is ok physically. I'm contemplating W4R1 tomorrow morning, and the head is saying I can't do it, from 9 mins to 16mins.... I'm hoping my body will say something different.

Hey Blondefox I’m here. I had a busy day on Friday then I picked my son up from school and been busy with him since, we’ll ok I fell asleep in front of the tv last night and woke up at 10pm and thought I’d better get him to bed (he’s only 6!) he was playing mine craft and doesn’t realise time passes.

So my run, I completed it but it was hard I had a twinge in my calf that didn’t go and it’s still there and I’ve got W5R1 tomorrow which is 3no 5min runs.

Blondefox if you remember back to W1 and how hard that was and now you’re running for 3mins, the 5min runs are hard I won’t pretend but you can do it, half the effort of runs are in your head You can do this, I did and you will do just remember the rules.

Hydrate.

Dynamic warm up stretches.

Run slow.

Great tunes.

You’ll have finished by the time I get up, let me know how you do.

W4R1 Did it!. The first 5mins was tougher than the 2nd for some strange reason. 3mins now seems almost a breeze!. And last week 3mins was so tough. I hydrated like never before and got my tunes in order, music definitely makes a difference, makes those minutes speed by. When Sarah said "halfway " for the last 5 mins I just thought yes I can do this, with Elton singing " I'm still standing" I had to agree😄. Endomorphins still fizzing😊.

Wow! Really well done I knew you could do it! I bet you are still buzzing, as I’ve said more than once here I fin seem to get those endorphins at the end of a run just a relief that irs done but I’m delighted to hear when you and others do. 😃😃😃

Did you do your run today, or is it tomorrow?

Hey Blondefox. My run was yesterday, well it would have been if I wasn’t on the bench again, I feel a bit of a fraud with everyone on here posting such positive messages and I’m always doom and gloom. I’ve got a pain in my right calf that won’t go away and it’s every time I put my foot on the floor. The thing is if I run in an injury it’ll effect work the next day. I’m an electrician so I’m climbing steps and scaffolding, carrying coils of cable and I can’t be making that worse than it is now.

I’m hoping i can get out tomorrow and just miss out W5R1 .... Shhh don’t grass me up though!!

I won't grass you up, but maybe you should take an injury break? Frustrating I know but better than making it worse and affecting your work. Maybe one of those little roller things might help? Not that I'm an expert of course😊

I’ve looked at those roller things and yes I might get one, re an injury break, I’ve had one recently but I obviously didn’t stop fir long enough. I started this in the same week as Burkey46 and now I’m 2 weeks behind. She’s flying and I’m struggling so I feel guilty like I’m whinging or not trying hard enough, if I carry on like this I’ll have you overtaking me too, I can’t have that I’m too competitive!😁
