Disappointing run

Hello all!

Feeling disappointed after going out for week 5 run 3.

In the days before I felt mentally ready for the full 20 minutes and was really excited. I had made sure I was well hydrated so my legs didn’t feel heavy. After 5 minutes I began to feel very hot so I slowed down. I kept slowing down until I was after halfway. Unfortunately I had to stop as I was just too hot!

Perhaps it was the weather - a very humid warm day?

I’m so frustrated that I gave in! Any words of encouragement? 🥴

We've all experienced that run! Put it behind you in the run bin, dust yourself down, rest up and go again 👍 look how far you've come

Oh, I’m keeping this - ‘stick it in the run bin’ 😜🙌🏼

I’ll be adopting Jade’s for the particularly bad days! 🤣

Chalk that up as a practice run.

Take a rest day, then go out and do it as if it was the first time.

I’ve graduated the programme and done a few consolidation runs already, but I struggled today on my run too! It was very warm and humid compared to the last few weeks so just put it down to the weather and keep your pride :)

Give run 2 in week 5 another go to reaffirm your confidence before going for the 3rd 20 min run again l think. Trying it again in couple days after not finishing it might be setting yourself up to fail if you’re not in the right space mentally for it.

Let us know when you complete it, we’re all rooting for you!

Thank you so much for the advice!

You’re right, the weather is so humid today?! Running can feel twice as demanding in the heat so don’t beat yourself up about this.

Great to hear you were excited! 🙌🏼You’ve come so far and you’re 100% ready for this next step, just chalk this is up as a practice effort and don’t let your brain convince you otherwise just because of a setback - we’ve all had them.

Onwards and upwards - you can totally smash it 👊🏼💥
