Did it 🎉 couldn’t have done it alone

Graduated this morning - 4K in 30 minutes - so chuffed. But I want to thank all those who encouraged me to have a go when I first posted here and wondered whether at 63 I was too old to attempt this. So many of you said ‘don’t worry, you are not too old’. Little did I realise at the time that, at 63, I was actually younger than many of you who have also completed this brilliant App. I followed Laura’s instructions to the letter and took it slowly but now I can’t believe how great I feel when I complete a run - I’m a runner .... amazing. Thank you for all your support.

Wow. Congratulations. 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳You have done amazingly. I’m 68. Enjoying it but finding Wk6 a tad harder. I’m Japanese running 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

Thanks. I did plenty of Japanese running - I think it’s really good

Still mostly Japanese running and I graduated at the end of June. Still haven't run 5K either! But I'm out running/jogging 3 times a week for 30 mins each time on grass/ hilly terrain and at 58 I feel fitter than I've ever done. You do you :) x

Im going to try to run 3 times a week. Not looking to go much further but want to try to make it feel easier and maybe lower my heart rate. I agree with you I feel great and fitter than I have ever been. 😁

I graduated in July and I can't ever imagine doing 5k, never mind doing it in 30 mins! I really don't mind though, I'm running (very slowly) three times a week and a recent health assessment showed all my health signs are better than they've been in a long time. Just need to shift some weight which apparently running alone doesn't do :-)

Congratulations on your spectacular achievement, well done! How proud are you feeling of all your efforts so far?

I do feel very proud of myself. I’ve never run before in all my life - who’d have thought it - I think I’m probably boring my friends now by extolling the App virtues 😁

Haha! I suspect you're not alone in waxing lyrical about this journey to anyone within earshot. ;)

My endless droning on about how much I've been enjoying becoming a runner these last nine weeks has inspired six friends to start C25K, five of which have managed to keep the habit going with great progress through the weeks.

That's one of the good things about this group- you can drone on if you want to, to like-minded souls who like sharing in the highs & lows. Saves us boring the thruppenies off our nearest & dearest 😉😉😁!

What a wonderful turn of phrase, "boring the thruppenies off", love it! :D

Can't beat a bit of rhyming slang.

Congratulations! I love that there are so many "vintage" members here (I'm one of them 😁😁). Well done & happy running 👏

Thank you ... I must admit that I was quite nervous at the beginning about starting to run at that age. I think I probably had an overactive imagination about what might go wrong 🤯 😂.

I know how you feel - I was the same (started in January this year). But now I'm aiming for 10 miles! I had no idea I'd get this far & would've been delighted to become a regular 5k runner, but it's surprisingly addictive - so watch out 😁😁🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🏅!

Wow! Well done! I’m 53 and it’s taken me weeks of consolidation to run 4K in 30 mins!

JackyGT profile image
JackyGT in reply to Frizzbomb67

Thank you. I’m looking forward to consolidating runs where I can just work towards relaxing more during the runs. I’m not really looking to run more than 5k I think. I just feel so mentally great when I’ve done a run. It’s such a high 🤩

Frizzbomb67 profile image

Sounds like a good plan. I’ve had a month and a bit of running 2 x 30 mins and 1x5k per week. I thought that was my limit but now .....🤔 I’m thinking of starting the 10K plan. Just thinking about it tho 😂
