Why oh why (after going to the toilet twice before I left) do I feel the urge to go to the loo. Felt positive going into the run then halfway through the first 8 mins my bowels started to churn π±.
So the rest of the time until I got home was concentrating on not having to find somewhere to go to the loo ( in the fields). Worried now about my r3 20 mins later this week.
Lungs werenβt too bad and legs felt heavy, just need to sort my stomach out ! Ruined my run as I couldnβt relax properly π.

I'm sorry, but you made me giggle. Maybe it's the excitement of becoming a runner!! Anyway you still completed the run in spite of everything! Well done! My c25k tonight or tomorrow.....
Exertion does divert blood supply from digestion to the efforts of the muscles. This can have many effects including a feeling of nausea, especially if you've recently eaten.
One thought is the adrenaline rush may cause more urine to be produced and the bladder muscles to tense up, all of which contribute to the feeling of urgency.
Pretty common and the only way to combat it is to make sure you go to the loo before you run. You can train your body to do this. Try to avoid eating before you go out too!
I'm an early morning runner and get up early, drink water and coffee, do quite a lot of warm up exercises at home and then use the loo. It seems to work!
Thanks. The issue was that I went twice before I left the house. So annoying π. Perhaps I need to get up and move around a bit before I go for my run. I never eat before I go, just some water.
Oh dear - maybe just an odd day. Without wanting to over share, I find this happens sometimes on long runs. I know some people take immodium before marathons etc, perhaps not necessary at this stage though
