Hi all,

Just wondered at what point is good to look at challenging myself to go further than the 5k...

Or do is it best to aim to complete the 5k faster ?

Taking me roughly 30 to 35 mins at mo..

Your running times are good, sub 35 minutes for a 5K is fine, you could try the Stepping stones podcasts with Laura which are pace, speed and stamina, after that you can do Ju Ju's Magic 10 plan if you want to run a 10K.

Thank you AlMorr I'll look into stepping stones podcasts...

Not sure I'll ever get to 10 k although never thought I'd make 5k to be fair so who knows..

There are a lot of people including myself that said to themselves they would not run any more than a 5K, many of them have gone on to run 10K, 10 miles and some a Half Marathon, it's just a matter of gradually increasing the distance you run, the longest run that I have ran is 10 miles.

I am one of those that was happy achieving 5k’s around 33 mins, threw in a few 4 miles, a couple of Parkruns and 10k’s then the odd 8 miler and then finally a couple of half marathons. I now run pretty much 5k all the time around once or twice a week. I have got this down to between 25.5-28.5 mins. I have not done any of the programmes other than C25K and did around 40 consolidation runs using Week 9 Run Three as I liked hearing the support of Laura. I increased the distance a bit by starting the app after the warm up walk and then running the apps warm up and warm down so had longer with Laura giving me 40 mins. Good luck in what you choose.

Hi Dutch-Fraggle I aimed for a sub 30 5k initially, which I achieved, now I’m increasing distance, but I’ve heard increasing distance improves your 5k time 🤔 I’ve done 3 x6k guided runs using Nike Run Club app, which I enjoyed and did 9.51k earlier this week, 10k will be next. It’s just a question of setting goals you’d like to achieve, maybe mix it up, distance one day speed the next. 👍🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️
