Hi,

Assuming you are female (if you are male sorry I have no advice whatsoever) you could try doing pelvic floor exercises. Unfortunately the other option I use if I am going to be somewhere with no access to a toilet for a couple of hours (dehydrate myself beforehand) is not useful in this context as it is very, very important to be hydrated when running.

How much are you drinking in the hours before you run?

I am not drinking too much as I now know the problem usually have a mouthful of water before I leave basically just to wet the lips

OK - do you suffer from anxiety or depression?

To be honest never thought about just carry on but I do suffer from closterfobia and sounds silly can’t wear anything tight around my neck and it’s getting worse

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Kegel exercises (which can be done by both males and females) will improve bladder control.

Enjoy your journey.

It could be a "fight or flight" adrenaline and "stress" cortisol response kicking in.

I have had a phantom "want the loo" feeling when I've just done some hard bit of running (eg. a new hill). It usually passes within a minute or so.
