Supinate/Trainers

Hey.... me again 😂

So after analysis I definitely supinate when I run because of my high arch.

Does anybody else have this, and if so what trainers do you use?

Cheers

I don't think it's too uncommon, but did they not suggest the correct shoes when you had the analysis done ?

If I’m honest it was self-made assessment ....

My advice would be to have a gait analysis in a specialist Running shop , they can give you more accurate advice and of course advise on to he correct Running shoes for you

How do you know you supinate?

Just by looking at my foot when I move and the physiology of said foot 😂

I think it is difficult to assess your own gait and a professional one need not cost anything as you are not under any obligation to buy suggested shoes, but trying on a variety after a gait analysis is by far the best way to find the most appropriate shoe for you.

Have you read this guide to buying running shoes? healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

You've got issues with your left side and reckon you supinate. Sounds like you need professional intervention if you're to continue to progress without anymore issues. To echo what others have said - get some gait analysis done. I assume you're not in new running shoes?

I think you’re right. I’ll find out if anywhere local does it. And no, I’m using my old Mizuno Waves. Cheers

Heyyy, I did a self assessment and came to the same conclusion, popped to a running shop to confirm and had the same results. If you are truly in the supination category you just need neutral running trainers :)

I definitely agree with the others though, it's really really not worth making a mistake with your trainers.. my W5 R2 was the first time I had any real trauma to my body and my ankles were so swollen but I knew my shoes were ok, and I have had to amend the way I step. It's just not worth the risk with the feet/ankles.

Hey Sally. I’ve just bought some rather ugly Saucony trainers. Bright green. At least I’ll be visible in the dark!

W1 R1 was when I felt trauma so you’re going fab! 👏🏻

😂 that’s very true! When I went to buy mine they were out of colours because running was so popular over lockdown apparently! X

Thank you! Yes I’ve been very lucky so far :)

A gait analysis is always a good thing but...Brooks Ghosts have a good reputation for supinators. My husband has high arches and supinates(!) and gets on well with them.

Supinators often find their shoes show more wear on the outside of the heel - something to check for.

Good luck! 🙂

I treat myself to a visit to a proper running shop when I completed C25K as I was aware my shoes where rubbing my ankle.

He didn’t even need to do a gait analysis, took one look at my stance in the old shoes and without them and told me I over-pronate and dig out a couple of pairs of shoes. Ended up with ASICS which are so comfy. Been using the old Nike’s for general dossing around and a bit of walking, tried a short jog in them the other day (Was out for a walk and running late to pick the missus up) and wondered how I ever managed 30 minute runs in them.

Can’t beat getting something properly fitted.

Cheers mate. After nearly 40 years I’ve only just noticed how high my arch is!
