I have not been sleeping well over the last couple of weeks so little energy and even less willpower. Mood - low. Consequently my diet has been pretty atrocious and I felt like I was in a vicious circle. Sometimes this happens. No exercise because of my ankle injury. The physio said I could run but after my first rehab 10 minute run my ankle puffed up so I went to the hairdresser and had a keratin treatment! Mustn't get the hair wet for three days after! It's been raining ever since so no running for me. This morning I woke up and decided today's the day to start turning this all around. Went out for my 10 rehab run. 1.5k in 10.2 minutes, last time it was 4.6 - an improvement! I was trying to run slowly - up to the cemetery and back. I figured I'd gauge my improvement if I did this a few times. Am feeling better already. Just to have got out has made a huge difference to me. Am needing to knuckle down now - strengthening exercises for my ankle (James Dunne, kindly recommended by Roxdog) and to gently coax my body into fitness. Now to ice the ankle!
SLOWLY, SLOWLY.....: I have not been sleeping... - Couch to 5K
SLOWLY, SLOWLY.....
Well done for getting out there! You deserved the hair treatment too - being kind to yourself. Those tentative runs post injury will really help your confidence in running I'm sure. Ditto with the ice, ice is my friend!
Great to hear you are out and about again, and you won't get much better than James dunne ! 😬👍
Good that you’re back out there, Having just had the same hair treatment I am terrified of the rain 😱. Huge sympathies for that.
I had it done before lock down and was so glad I did! 😊
Literally just discovered James Dunne on YouTube and am going to incorporate his 3 runners exercises 5 day’s a week as advised!
I'll take a look at these! My physio says that my balance isn't good so I've started to do some of his balance exercises (also recommended by Roxdog) In fact after surfing HealthUnlocked I see that this is a recurring theme for some - shaky balance can lead to injury - probably led to mine 🙄
Ah I didn’t know that? I have a weakness in my left calf and also my lower back, but that’s to be expected a s I had major abdominal surgery in dec so can’t do any core for a long time in case of hernia, but I’m hoping these three exercises can help me now
This forum is a great place for learning and sharing information isn't it? I should think you'll be quids in if you start preparing the rest of your body before you can move on to your core!
