I’m hoping to do run 3 of week 6 (25 mins) in Carbis Bay, Cornwall tomorrow but everywhere looks sooo hilly. I’ll never make it! Any suggestions that don’t involve running on sand? Thank you

Cornwall is very hilly.

Perhaps you could run on St Michael's Way towards Lelant. It looks reasonably flat.

If you don't like running on hills or on sand you could look for a park or field which is fairly flat and run around that instead, probably, depending on the distance it would mean running around for 25 minutes several times, good luck for that run wherever you run, after you have completed it you will be officially a runner 🏃🏾 👍

We ran in Hayle when we were staying in st ives. Just drove in and found somewhere to park and ran around the rounds. It’s very flat compared to st ives!

I am jealous! I was in St Ives for a week last September and I really loved it. I wasn't a runner then so can't comment on a route.

If the tide goes out a very long way, then the wet sand left behind is often very firm and is a lovely surface to run on. I've done this on a north east beach and it was fine. Just had to wade through the very soft sand to get there!

I was in Carbis two weeks ago and decided not to run while I was there. Mainly because we live somewhere so flat (West Lancs)! So I used my time to walk as much as possible, getting lots of hills/slopes in. We walked the coastal path from Carbis to St Ives most days and that bit of path past CB Hotel up to where it starts to level out is a killer for me. However my calves have improved and when I ran the day after I got home my calves didn't hurt so much. I was ready to do week 5 run 3 so that's another reason I avoided it there...I didn't want to feel I had failed.

If you do want to do it then up on the main road by the Costcutter and hairdressers there is a small and reasonably flat park. If you did that as your run (but warm up walk there and walk back after to your accomodation) then that's the best place I can think of.

The other alternative is to really go for it and drive to Penzance to run, early morning before it gets busy. Park on the big car park opposite the shops and run along the front to Jubilee Pool and back. There are slopes but not hills so that would be a lot easier.

Have a fab time! Emma

I know it’s a bit of a drive for you but the Camel trail from Wadebridge is flat and in good condition.
