Have had chest pain past couple of nights when I've gone to bed - despite being overweight and smoking previously ( have stopped๐) im rarely (thankfully) Ill so felt a bit concerned - been to docs this morning - actually dreading that all the years of not being very healthy had caught up with me and was a little bit frightened if I'm honest - had i finally put too much strain on my internal bits with the running!
anyhow turns out heart is good - and lungs are actually sounding quite strong and oxygen stats were brilliant. Chest and muscles all ok and no lumps or things where they shouldn't be๐
Upshot being he thinks I've got a hiatus hernia - oh god thinks me and only thing I could think was how devastated I'd be if I couldn't keep running lol
Apparently it's quite common in the over 50s and easily treated with some strong antacids and a better sleep position.
The relief was unbelievable as had convinced myself this was something that might finish me off
Onwards and upwards then it is - parkrun round 3 tomorrow๐

It's bad to have pain, but good for a doc to have a good look at you every so often, and it sounds like you're basically fit and healthy. Great news! Enjoy parkrun, there must be dozens of us doing it tomorrow
Thanks Mike - lost a couple of friends to cancer this year and had convinced myself it was going to be grim - can have a proper go for it tomorrow as now being given a mostly clean bill of health๐
Thanks for the tips - I eat reasonably healthy these days as I'm trying to get rid of all the excess pounds๐
Maybe need to switch to water or squash instead of the fizzy stuff and sweet n sour is as adventurous as I get when it comes to anything non English lol
Best of luck with the arthritis - certainly don't envy you dealing with that
Whoa Bandit, glad it wasnโt anything more serious! As Mike said, maybe it was a blessing in disguise as now youโve had a good mot!
Happy youโre able to continue running. Have a fab parkrun (my turn soon, but want a couple more 5k runs under my belt first as I refuse to walk - I know, I know, silly because I could!! ๐)
Thanks - I'm happy to be the tail walkers mate at parkrun but am getting in more running v walking. If I waited til I can run the whole thing it would be a very long time ๐
