🏃Virtual 5K Run 2 -- A Tale Of Two Hills🏃

Thought of doing something different for my Virtual 5K this week. I have run the hill in my local park many times on this C25K journey but never the longer hill that runs down the back lane by the school. I used to drive and park near the park to avoid this long hill but today I took it on and beat it😀 Just 3 months ago the thought of running up here was unthinkable. It was bad enough walking up but with a bit of planning, just taking my time, shortening my stride and keeping my heart rate in check it's no longer intimidating. Must admit I wasn't out to break any records today but the hill work is useful to build stamina which will come into play once the parkrun starts again. Good luck everyone on their running this weekend👍😁

5.01K / 36:58min / 7'23"pace

Screenshot shows me starting almost at the top of the biggest hill and running down. Next is up and down the smaller hill at the park and finally up and down the biggest hill by the school.

Good run for you today, hills are good for stamina, not long before you will be able to run a 5K sub 35 minutes.

Well done for tackling and beating your demon hill - still setting a good pace! It certainly makes you realise just how far you’ve come on this running journey 👍

I’ve been wondering about hills lately, but I’ll have to go on wondering as I’d have to go on quite a long drive to find one 😀.

Ha ha. You'll have to get that long piece of elastic ready... 😂🤣

Maybe in the interests of your running you should move somewhere hillier?

Thanks. The key is to start small and build up and take your time👍

Good job done with taking on the hills - I’m not quite ready for that yet but you really do seem to be just taking it in your stride 👍

Planning to do some fartlek myself for next week so would be good to know how you get on if you do it too ?

Good work :) Hills are tough but I'm getting a bit more confident about tackling them - and the feeling when you get to the top is great!
