Consolidation Run 8 - no PR’s or PB’s but my first 6K!

In advance of starting Ju-Ju’s new magic 10K plan at the beginning of September I wanted to test my ability to reach 6K today (which is the aim by W2R3 of the plan).

I found a 155BPM mixed track to run to with no intention to increase the pace for this run. I only wanted to do 6K and IF I managed to A) do this and B) in 39 mins (Ju-Ju’s recommended time) then I’d be happy.

Evidently - I am made up with this run!

Running at 155BPM dropped my average pace a bit but I may try 160BPM when I attempt this again next week. Aiming for a short interval run (Speed podcast) and a quicker 5K for the other two runs of this week 💪

10K - I’m coming for you!

That's great running again and I'm sure you'll smash the 10k out of the park😂 I'm going to limit my runs to about 1 hours easy running which I think will be about 7k for me. Any longer and I reckon I'd be pushing my luck with my dodgy back but if I still keep losing weight who knows lol😂👍

Thanks @MontyMooDog 🙏🏻

I’m really looking forward to starting the 10K journey in Sept! I like a plan to stick to!

‘1 hour easy run’ you say? 🤣😱 I was done at 39 mins yesterday!

Hope the back holds out! 😉

Well done! And that is a great time ... for your first and by no means last 6k ! ... think that 10k plan is calling you ! 👏👏

Thanks 🙏🏻 @PlymBorn! Not a bad time for my first 6K - I’m sure I can get the pace down if I push harder but I’m following the rule ‘Faster or further - never both’ ... for now!

Short speed interval run tomorrow - that 10K is definitely calling me! 😉

I know what you mean... I’ve gone for faster but been doing some reading and will be going for the further ... at a much slower pace ... I know my demons will be saying “c’mon... you can go faster ...” ... but I know that will likely lead to injury at some point ! ... so tomorrow will be a slow longer run

Exactly. I tried to do faster and further but burned out during the run and achieved neither! So, like you, I’m doing further at a slower pace mixed with shorter at a faster pace. My demons don’t like 150/155BPM so I have to force myself to stay at that pace but the results are speaking for themselves!

Not what you're looking for?
