Wanna run! Too hot! Too tired!

So on my flashy new Unite watch I have recorded 3 nights of poor and disrupted sleep, which is obvious as I am up and down three time’s a night with my little girl after her spine op. I do not resent caring for her one bit she’s my angel baby, but I am so frustrated with how tired I am and how I can’t run! It’s getting stupid! Should I ignore the Unites recommendations of better sleep and just stretching today or push through and run anyway? I only have the 4 runs left for graduation and I can almost see the graduate badge next to my name and the relief and accomplishment I will feel that 8 months after major surgery I can run for 30 mins! But, should I pay attention to the recommendations so I don’t drop dead?! Lol x advice appreciated!

You have a lot on your plate at the moment, so be kind to yourself. 😀

As for the running- you could go out & try a slow gentle trot & listen to your body. If you are too tired to run your body will tell you.

I have lots of broken sleep (thanks a bunch menopause 😂), sometimes running is surprisingly ok, other times it’s hard going & I just go slowly & run for a shorter time if I need to. 😀

Tricky one !

I don't sleep very well, usually wake up at least 3 times a night .

Always tired when I do get up so have to fight those gremlins if I want to run !

(I did this morning)

But, your graduation is not going anywhere !

It will be ready when you are but trust me , I know how you feel (after my 16 days off)

For me, it was a huge relief to get Running' again and I felt I relaxed more after I graduated .

But that's just me .

You need to do what's right for you !

Good luck 👍

I can only second what they said. Take care of yourself as you also have to take care of your daughter.

Running can wait if it needs to. You won't lose fitness for about 2 weeks, and that graduation badge will wait for you! X

2 whole

Weeks fills me with dread! I think I need to not do it today and do the stretches on the watch then either try late tonight like 9 or 10 or very early tomo x i don’t get a minute with pops atm and she’s up with her dad on the weekend coming now so I will have a chance to sleep all the way through it’s draining me and obv it’s wonderful she’s recovering and a lot faster than an adult, but I feel a bit like a new mum all over again haha x anyways thanks guys, I wish I had a treadmill in my living room for days like this and perhaps I will invest when I can afford it x will come in useful over the icy winter months too when I can’t run outside safely x

Also wondering about a treadmill to help me keep going in winter. If I go back to work (very uncertain due to Covid19) I'll struggle to run outside.

Keep us updated. Your priorities are yourself and your daughter. X

Just seem to need a silver bell now to keep up with her demands lol x Yeah I just want to finish this now and get on with running for pleasure not to get this graduation! X I can’t wait to just put on the music and run and see how far I can go without any prompts or whatever x

Just seeing this..... what did you decide? x

in reply to Sara_Wales

Did all the chores, welcomed in and out the nurses to check on pops, disinfecting anything they may have touched, cooked cleaned and wormed and fleas the dog and now I’m going to take some me time and read and sleep until she wakes me for a hot wager bottle at midnight X oh and I took delivery of a beautiful new mattress that I cannot wait to throw myself all over haha x running in the early AM tomo x fingers and toes crossed!

Just come back and delighted to find I carved off .50

Off my kmph pace to 9.12 Km landed! That’s like a 45 minute 5k and I am super duper happy with that!

Fantastic! You'll need to change your name to Fastpoke soon! 😊

in reply to Sara_Wales

Steady on now.... hahahah

I said before that my first goal is to outrun the dog ahaha x he hates my pace!

Haha...... must be nice to run with a dog..

I dragged the other half out today... he's a long distance runner (marathons), but has been nursing a calf injury for over a month now... I think he feels the same about my pace! 🤭😊

in reply to Sara_Wales

Oh I don’t want to run with ANYONE! I want that precious time for me and me alone! The dog annoys me by needing a poo, how dare he?, and me having to jog on the spot for 15 seconds to bag it and add that to the end of my runs lol x I’m running for 30 mins some days as I have to stop twice for him to go! I would love to just be me and the water bottle but he’s been my faithful companion and when I fell the other day he was licking my face and lay down by me as I cried a bit x awww x he’s my little fluffy angel x but annoying haha

Oh bless him! I so know what you mean about running alone... but I've also liked the distraction of someone else the twice he has run with me. The route I take is a little isolated.... the other half keeps trying to persuade me to stick to busier streets... but I love the feeling of being in nature when I run..... a dog would come in handy!

in reply to Sara_Wales

Ah yes for safety! I run along road and into woods and fields, I use headphones and if Magnus hears someone else he stops and his little head flys around so I’m always aware x it is handy, and I go out so early some days(4 am in the summer) it’s still a bit dark out, although I do avoid the woods if I’m out that early. I don’t want to get killed or mugged fore I graduate haha
