Week 9, Run 2, done.

So, my penultimate run of this programme is tucked away, only one to go. It's a pretty crazy time for me, house up for sale and from last Tuesday to next Tuesday, 11 viewings...takes it out of a girl!

So, back to running. Just my graduation run to go. Will I be running 5k in it? No. It will be a pure fun run, a joyous affair with no constraints on it other than to run the 30 minutes. Why?

BECAUSE I RAN 5K TODAY!!

Ok, I'm shouting it. My plan, for once, came together. I wanted to tuck the distance out of the way today, partly so I can simply enjoy the graduation run, and partly because that day already has a gruelling set of house viewings booked in so time will be limited...and no way can I do 5k in 30 minutes haha. My mind, such as it is, wouldn't allow me to graduate without having achieved the 5k in the name of the programme, so today seemed the ideal time to tackle it.

Yes it was slow. I ran the first half at a snail's pace, a bit faster the second half. It was a tough moment when Jo said it's time to walk, because I knew it was a long way off, but no way was I stopping before 5k!

So, one to go, then I'll be begging advice on what comes next. For now though...you guessed it...hot tub time!

Happy running all...

It does feel good. Yeah, I was tired at the end, but so pleased!

51 minutes is a big jump from 30 minutes. Take care! You're only supposed to be extending by 10% per week.

An extra rest day may be advisable.

Will bear this in mind myself as it is so tempting to do the 5k.

I just had to ...I'm certainly not doing it for my graduation run but my brain said it's Couch to 5k, so you have to fit a 5k in somewhere! Today felt like the right time. I'd already run 4k in 40 minutes, so knew at my slow pace I could push on a little longer. Really looking forward to 'just ' running 30 minutes on Tuesday...!😁

I've been extending the runs for a bit, creeping slowly up so I knew I could do it. My mind just said it had to be done.

I'll see how I feel on Tuesday. If I don't feel good I'll wait til Wednesday, but the 30 minutes have been feeling easy so hoping I'm fine on Tuesday. I won't be pushing it past 30 minutes that day, probably won't run 5k again for a bit. I'm planning on working on some intervals and hills after graduation so times and distances won't be of the essence for a while. Though truthfully, I haven't yet got a clear plan lol.

Ha, I only needed to run 50 minutes because I run so slowly!

I've found such a comfortable pace now I'm loathe to give it up...though I probably need to make the effort...
