Week 9 run 2

Morning all! Arose nice and early this morning, out for about 05:30 and it was worth it a really lovely morning! Not too cold and no rain, brilliant autumn morning.

Went with a classic 90s rap playlist and it worked well for running, pumped me up enough to keep me going at a steady pace most of the way around though I did feel a lot slower second half.

Chose a new route to keep things interesting, it was well lit and very quiet didn't see another person.

The left knee niggle made a surprise appearance with a 3rd of the run to go, hoped I'd seen the last of that but appears not!

General feelings while I ran were positive, didn't get the urge to stop and though I felt slow and tired last half, finishing was never in doubt. Ran for 3.2 again and managed to set new pbs over 2 miles (18.42)and the eventual 5k (29.34) Got to be happy with that! 😁

Bring on graduation day!

Good luck everybody running today 💪🏻

One run left eh? That must be a good feeling! You should be really pleased with yourself on your run times, sub 10mins/mile again, you’re like lightning compared to me at around 14mins/mile.

Congrats on a great run!

Exciting to be so close! May even run Sunday morning if I don't drink fri/sat 🤣 no work schedule for next week yet so not sure how that's looking yet.

My times I'm pretty shocked, I honestly feel like I'm shuffling along like a walker from The Walking Dead 🤣 with similar sound effects 🤣 but I'm happy with the times so far, I only look at the end when I'm doing a report so there always a nice surprise! Who knows what they will be like in another 8 weeks if I actually learn to run/breath/stretch/eat correctly 🤔😂

It's all you guys on here that have kept me going though, I'm a notorious flake with this kind of stuff and have never kept up anything like this for long periods (paying gym membership for 3 years, been 3 times 🤦🏼‍♂️, that kind of thing!) but coming on and reading all the positive comments and inspirational posts really keeps me wanting to do this.

Your 10 minute miles will come with time, the fitter we get the faster we get I presume? 🤣 I don't know how we compare weight wise but I'm 5'9" and I'm currently a few pounds under 13 stone, hoping to get down closer to 11.5. Started this course at about 13st3lb so no major weight loss yet but I feel fitter and a little less wobbly in places, my next step is eating properly and finding more exercise to do on my non running days so I can really shift some timber!

I can do 10 minute miles (it's equivalent to 6'12"/km). I was a similar weight to you back in April, but I'm 6 foot and lanky. It was mainly going towards inflating the spare tyre.

I'm now down to about 12st 2lb, but I attribute that to cutting out the comfort eating of biscuits more than the running (though the activity of running will have helped). If I lose another 3-4 pounds, that'll be pretty much ideal, but I'm not doing anything extra to achieve that.

The first thing I noticed about this was that my belt would comfortably go another notch tighter.

My partner has a joint gym subscription for us. I've been there more often than her recently (and it seems my last visit was in January 2019!)

Did you get on your run this week Jcksam? Was wondering how you got on 🤔👍

Well actually yes I did, I really wobbled W7R1 last night, it was tough probably cos I’ve not ran for about 3 weeks but I’m glad I did it. I felt like throwing the towel in several times but I just kept running to the next lamp post. I’m a little taller than you at 6’2” but I’m heavier too at about 16st 2lb, my target weigh is about where you are now, 13st 6lb.

I think a Sunday run would be best if the weather forecast is anything to go by 😁

Well done 👍 It can’t be easy getting out there after a break so hopefully the next one will be easier.

I hijacked this tread (sorry Jericho) and I’m in between the two of you at about 6ft and 15st 3lbs.

Well done. You should feel proud of yourself.

Well done! I admire you for getting up and out at 5.30 in the morning, I don't think I'll ever be a morning runner, but never say never.

Good luck with graduation, you'll smash it!!

Great run again Jericho and those stats! ⚡ If you're a zombie runner you're like a 'fast' zombie from World War Z and not a Shaun of the Dead shuffler! (sorry - now I'm bringing out my inner geek!) 🤓

Glad you sorted the tunes out too 🎵 and dropped the cheese! 🧀 🐭 What's going on the graduation playlist??

You've come a long way - here's to a fantastic graduation run 👨‍🎓 😀

You’re nearly at the end! You’ve done great getting the full 5K in the 30mins, I’m way slower- will probably be 4km by the end. You’ll have to spend the next day thinking what your celebration treat is going to be when you do your final run on Sunday!

Jericho2332 profile image

I treat myself everyday, hence me still being a fatty 🤣

Aha! Sneaked one in ahead of the weekend 😄 Another stellar run!!! New route and 90's rap to power you on clearly worked a treat. Well done and seriously, can you please stop smashing that pace?! You're leaving us slower runners for dust, though providing a fair bit of motivation to up pace too! I 'think' your next run is your graduation run? OMG..eekkk.. How are you feeling about that?

You can enjoy your weekend now knowing you've got Run 2 in the bag and with all the excitement of your grad run ahead 💪🏻

I am excited! Thinking of going Sunday morning 🤣 only if I remain booze free over tonight and tomorrow 🤣

Don't worry about keeping up with me I must just shuffle at an unnaturally fast pace 🤣🤣 I'm naturally a very fast walker too so probably why it dosnt feel like I'm going that fast 🤔

Runforurlife profile image
RunforurlifeGraduate in reply toJericho2332

Crikey, I'm also a naturally fast walker so not sure what happens to that when I transition to running?! I'm currently running just over 4km in my 28min runs..

Certainly getting there then! Build toward that 5k once graduated, you will get there 💪🏻

😂Well you must be something right if you can knock out 5k in 30 mins-
