And just like that I have completed 8 weeks of couch to 5k - actually ran the whole 5k today in 47:38, not impressive to most but for an unfit overweight 50 something woman living with Asthma and Arthritis it’s amazing 😉 for those that have read this far I have also lost almost a stone in weight while getting fit 😅

Excellent! Congrats on the 5k too. I have just done W8R2 and am still amazed at over 60 with arthritis and other aches and pains that I can do this! Good luck for week 9!

Wow that’s really impressive, don’t push it too far or long though, you don’t want injury to stop you completing the plan,

I’ve been doing 5k for a long time every Saturday (ParkRun day) started walking it, then run walk (Fartlek Style). I was almost home so continued to run.

Sounds perfect and you know what you are doing, I pushed to 6k soon after graduation and pulled a muscle but if you’ve been covering 5k for a while there isn’t any more risk to injury, I’m really impressed, we still just plod around

Congratulations but please stick to the plan.

W8 runs are 28 minutes.............you just breached the 10% rule used by most experienced runners to increase their weekly training load........take care.

I’ve been doing 5k since March (ParkRun day) started walking it, then run walk (Fartlek Style). started the C25k to help improve. I was almost home so continued to run. I would have completed 5k whether running or walking but as I was running I went slower so I could make the distance

Following up on what IannodaTruffe said:

25 + 10% = 27.5 (rounds up to 28).

28 + 10% = 29.8 (rounds up to 30).

This is how the programme works.

48 minutes is adding over 70% to your previous runs.

I'd suggest taking an extra rest day or even two before tackling Week 9. We don't want you to do yourself a mischief!

Think I breached this rule a long time ago. I’ve been doing Virtual ParkRun through lockdown, doing fartlek work outs and beginner runner training on another app. I started c25k To help improve myself. But now I have a bike so low impact training on my none run days which have been very few until now as the dog prefers to run not walk.

Keep going on the plan it gets easier as you go. I found it easier to do some stretching and strengthening activities on my rest days. I also did rest and recuperation walks. But then I do have 2 spaniels to exercise twice a day. Enjoy the app

Thank you. I have been doing some walking with friends too. Who knew that getting fit was so sociable 😀

I’m sorry DID YOU SAY NOT IMPRESSIVE???? I am amazed and in awe. You have done it, lost weight - I now feel I must keep going - you are my goal.

X
