I haven’t run for a week, I feel I’ve lost my running mojo!! Since graduation I’ve missed the plan and the clear goals; I’ve downloaded bridge to 10k but don’t feel ready for that as I’ve only ever run 4K and that was hard. I think I’ve used my arthritis as an excuse because I know I feel better after a run. I don’t feel like a real runner but an imposter! Any advice would be gratefully received!!
No Mojo: I haven’t run for a week, I feel I’ve... - Couch to 5K
No Mojo
It is not uncommon amongst new graduates, which is why the Consolidation Club exists healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
Pop in and see what others are doing.
Create some structure and aims for yourself until you have decided what you want to get out of your running.
It just a wee slump and it will pass. Sometimes you just need to talk yourself into it. You know how it feels afterwards. The endorphins will pick you up. 4K is a hell of an achievement and there are plenty out there sitting on that couch. You’ve done an amazing thing. All by yourself. Keep going. You can definitely get to that 10k. You’re already a big way towards it. Get your trainers on and kick some butt.
Get up and go. As soon as you can.
I really get where you’re coming from. I’ve struggled since graduating and I was also in danger of not running for a week with various excuses- mainly the heat.
During the C25K plan I had no trouble getting up early and going for my run but not so at the moment. I think it’s the loss of structure that we miss and as people on this forum often say - we need to set some goals. So this morning I went back to Jo and the C25k podcast and took her with me. I just wanted to run for 30 mins with no pressure on speed or distance and I did. I was up and out by 6.30 it was lovely and not many people around. I want to try to get back into the habit of running 30 mins comfortably 3 times a week to try and get my motivation back. It’s not easy but we don’t want to lose all our fitness after all the hard work we’ve done so far. Come on we can do this 🏃🏼♀️👍✅😊
Thank you! It’s good to know I’m not the only one (is that bad? 😂) I would be gutted if I lost the fitness I’ve gained so I’ve just got to get out there! Like you, I need to run early as it sets me up for the day. Tomorrow is the day ...
Please get out there and run again , you are certainly not an imposter !
and the fact that you have posted shows me you want to run again !
i graduated last wednesday and my graduation run was 3.9k, so i'm running around the same as you !
i don't know how much you have run since graduating but perhaps try again and if you want the structure then use the c25k app on week 9 run 3 again then you still have your coach !
or perhaps have a look at the Nike running club app! it has different structured runs with coaches.
if you have done a few weeks consolidating then why not look at ju ju's magic plan ?
there are many options .
but this is just the beginning , and you have done so well to get here .
put on those running shoes and go smash it !
you know you want too, otherwise you would not have posted !
good luck !
i will be on the lookout for a post about your next run ! 👍
Emvsl I think I have the answer!! The amazing Roseabi wrote a mini plan for people in your position around the time I graduated about 10 weeks ago- it is part way through a consolidation club post Of hers. I know it helped a number of people then, and now they are flying!!! Perhaps if Roseabi or an admin reads this they can repost to it?
Great, thank you! I will search for it! 👍👍🏃🏽♀️🏃🏽♀️
I also had to force myself out there after c25k graduation- so 2 weeks later I started Ju ju’s 10k plan- if 5k is not yet comfortable for you then you could do the distance version instead, maybe even doing the first 2 weeks twice perhaps? I printed off her plan and loved ticking each completed run off- and have gone from loathing running to loving running!!
I said this a week or so back. Going on from C25K is like leaving high school. Some thrive on the freedom from structure, doing their own thing and making their own plans, and others continue to need some structure round them, so go on to other programmes like "Bridge to 10k".
A good example of the former is Instructor57 who is being creative in his running sessions.
