It is hoped this will become a regular weekly event for GRADUATES of the C25K program and is intended to supplement the "Monthly Consolidation Club" in the prolonged absence of "parkrun". It is open both for seasoned 5K veterans and also those GRADUATES wanting to progress through "Consolidation" up to the elusive 5K mark and possibly beyond.

It is NOT intended to be a race or competition of any kind. It is meant purely as a point of inspiration and a forum to swap running experiences whether good or bad on the road to 5K. Hopefully it will help ensure we all keep our interest in running alive through the coming months and years.πŸ˜€

FAQ

Who is eligible to take part?

The event is open to all GRADUATES but please read precautions below:-

***IMPORTANT*** Runners who have just GRADUATED and have fallen VERY short of 5K in 30 minutes MUST go through a proper period of "Consolidation" BEFORE attempting the event. However walking breaks are perfectly fine! If you are reaching 5K or thereabouts including your 5 minute warm up / cool down periods then you are good to go !!! For further information click here:-

How will the event be advertised?

Advance notice of the forthcoming event will be posted on Wednesday evening. To ensure you get a weekly reminder please 'FOLLOW' me to see my posts (tap on my profile picture to go to my profile page, then tap the 'Follow' button)πŸ˜€

How do I take part?

The event is open on the extended weekend Friday to Sunday as per the advertised dates. Complete the 5K challenge on one of these days and then write up a short post assuming you have completed the full distance. Add a relevant PHOTO if possible, ensure you add a TOPIC of "Weekly Virtual 5K" and then SUBMIT the post. All of the Virtual 5K posts will then appear under the "Weekly Virtual 5K" Topic heading so they can all be viewed in one place. For an example post click here:-

We have since the official parkruns were cancelled have had virtual and now (not) parkruns, tomorrow will be my 21st virtual 5K parkrun and 8th (not) parkrun, the virtual ones have been running and organised by our friend Damien, the not parkruns are organised by the same people who run the official ones, I am not sure if it would be wise to have another version of virtual 5K runs.

Yay, all being well I will be a graduate and able to give this a try :) I was doing 5k in week 8 if you count the warmup walk too, so all should be well.

So, if I am covering 4.4k with warm up and cool down walks, would that be too short of the 5K?? And would I be eligible. The overall time and pace won't be great, but might give me a little incentive to push on to 5k.... 😊

It's important that you don't overdo it but no one is judging you here. It's all down to common sense but walking breaks are fine so even if you walk the extra 600m that's a tick in my bookπŸ‘πŸ˜

Give it another week and I can decide closer to the time, depending on how my first two runs go. Thanks 😊

Love the idea but does it have to be restricted to Friday-Sunday?

My schedule is such that I don't usually run at the weekend and my longer run this week was this morning so wouldn't qualify ☹️

It was either 5.5k or 5.2k depending on whether you believe Strava or my shiny new Smartwatch ⌚😁

No that's fine. Do a brief write up and submit it if you would. Please add a Topic of Weekly Virtual 5K and you will be the first proper entry on the pageπŸ‘πŸ˜
