Heatwave: when to run?

So I have my graduation run tomorrow and it's set to be a warm one. I've run in the heat before but it's not terribly pleasant.

I'm a morning runner so I'm toying with waking up at around 5am to get out there. What time is everyone else planning to run during this mini heatwave?

I went out last night at about 8.30pm, thankfully it had cooled down a fair bit, still muggy though!

Massive congratulations 🥳 so close!

Either get up really early run by 6:30 before is probably better (this is coolest) or late evening (not as cool but can be pleasant).

I just saw going to be 30 at 9pm this evening, where I am. I think I’ll start but give myself the option of a short run/crawl! Good luck

Hi Calicoco

Well done on being on the brink! I did my graduation run this morning - and I think today is hotter than it's going to be tomorrow.....

Anyway, I left home about 7.20am and was home an hour later. Nearly all my run - as opposed to the brisk walk - was in the shade, so really it was fine. I wouldn't have wanted to leave it much later though.

Good luck tomorrow!!

I try to run as early as possible - about 6.30 thus morning. As you are a morning person, that would work for you?

Good luck with your final run!

If it's still oppressively warm tomorrow morning, there's no disgrace in delaying a day (or two).

I did W9r2 at 6.30 today and it was still hot and I struggled.

Hi, I started my run this morning at 6.30 and the sun was warming up then, I’d say earlier the better to beat the heat 🏃‍♀️

The forecast is for temperatures to stay above 20 degrees in several places in the UK overnight tonight. (Yes that's Climate Change for you)

So it's going to be warm however early you start out.

Maybe wait a couple of days or so or if you do run find somewhere with a bit of shade if possible.

Good luck whatever you decide 🤞🤞🤞

The forecast for my location is for 18°C at 7am tomorrow. If I miss that hour I'll be declaring an extra rest day.
