Where to measure from

Hello! I just started week 8 this morning and I'm feeling super stoked about it! I'm up to doing 4.5 km per session however this is measuring from the start of the warm up walk to the end off the cool down walk. Should I be measuring just the time I'm running instead??

Thanks

Fantastic! That sense of acheivement feels good doesn't it.

I'm not sure what the 'right' way is .... but I have been tracking the running section only since the start of week 7.

For measuring distances from Week 7 onwards, the running portion is probably what matters.

I'll be switching to measuring just the run from W6R3.

But for the purposes of C25K progression it's duration first, distance later.

I also started to measure from week 7 and just the running times

It all depends what you want to use the information for - if it's "have I completed C25k" then, despite the name, you don't need to measure your distance at all, just do the runs. On the other hand, I like knowing my total distance covered as it helps me plan routes, and I like to have the strava beacon on throughout. However, I also look at my strava record and do a quick calculation of my running pace so I can track my progress and add this into the description.

Well done.

If you want to know how far you run, measure the running.

If you want to know how much ground the full session covers, measure it all.

You are doing a running programme so only measure the running.

Well done so far 😀👍

As others have said, to graduate from C25K you need to have done three 30-minute runs in Week 9, not including your warm-up or cool-down walks. The distance doesn't matter.

personally I like measuring just the runs (it also gives you your proper pace then!!); but ultimately distance comes behind the fact you can run for 28 minutes!!
