Thinking about buying a Forerunner 10 and wondered if someone with one could answer something about them. I was wondering if it's possible to activate the GPS but then only start measuring time and distance when you choose to, say at the end of the warm up walk so when starting to run. Or does it automatically start measuring time and distance as soon as the satellites are found and so you have to include warm up walk?

Forerunner 10 Question
Thank you for this.
Yes, you have to start the run for it to start logging data. You can also "pause" a run and start it up later (in case you have to stop, or to miss out the walking intervals if you want). Just make sure to save the run at the end.
I bought a soleus one off amazon after uming and ahing for about 6 months. I went off the Garmin as I had a bee in my bonnet about wanting to display current speed which the forerunner 100 didn't do. You turn the gps on and It takes a few moments then I set off. after my warm up I then press to start the timer and distance checker. For the money ive been really happy with it think it was about £60 as opposed to £90 for the garmin.
Which Soleus model do you have? An accurate current pace reading is the one thing that I would deem necessary to tempt me to buy a GPS watch.

I bought the black and green version . Chcek out you tube for video demo as well.
I will post a link to amazon later to it. It's been handy to see what speed I can actually run when running intervals. The instructions were rubbish I used a couple of you tube videos instead
Thanks all, very helpful.
