Doin' it my way...

Well, things are not going well since graduation a couple of weeks ago. I've done a couple of consolidation runs, but my knee has given up the ghost now. I did manage 26 minutes on Sunday, but was hobbling quite a lot, and of course, I still puff and pant like a pink steam train, but nonetheless, I was vaguely pleased I got that far, but also pretty annoyed I didn't complete the full 30 mins. Had to give myself a good talking to, tbh.

I'm sitting here now with a bag of peas on my knee and having taken some ibuprofen hoping its going to start feeling better soon. Once it does I've decided to give myself a break and just run when, and as far, as I want to. Don't worry about the programme, or feel I 'have to run 30 minutes' (5k is still waaaaayyyyy off), because, frankly, I'm just not enjoying it at the mo'. Ok, I may lose a bit of form (there's not much to lose anyway) but as long as I get up off the couch and go a couple of times a week (knee permitting) even for 10 minutes it'll be better than nothing. So sorry folks, consolidating my running is out the window for the time being - consolidating my enjoyment of it is taking priority!

Hey - you don't have to run for 30 mins to consolidate - you just need to keep running! But you are doing absolutely the right thing by easing up if you are having knee problems. Love your focus on enjoying the run - that's what will keep you going/ bring you back to it if you need to take a break.

There are knee strengthening exercises to look at - either in strength & Flex or maybe in the consolidation club. Maybe give them a go?

Hope you're knee behaves itself.

Hi there, thank you! Yes, attacking knee gremlins from all sides at the moment.... exercise, drugs, support bandage, peas, rest..... its beginning to feel a little better now, but going down stairs is horrible... I'm going to start sliding down the bannisters 😁 I'm looking forward to enjoying running (well wobbling along) again.

Ohhh bless you!

Knees can be tricky things to please!

I ran yesterday but my knees feel a bit fragile today 🙈

So sorry - no wonder you not enjoying it as much as you should.. 💕

You’re doing exactly the right thing in my eyes anyway .. take the pressure off

You Graduated - so now it’s about you doing it your way.. smaller runs are still runs but be careful lovely.... enjoying it is far more important at this moment in time

💕

Thank you! Am bombarding my errant knee with all the weaponry I can at the moment, but it is still a bit sore and puffy. tsk. I think I probably needed a bit of a rest from the running anyway to be honest. I felt like I was going backwards and getting a bit disheartened and grumpy about it. I'm so pleased to see you are moving forward at pace though (at great pace by the sound of it!!). take care. x

it's felt a bit better the last couple of days thanks. Its been horrid, but seems to have improved quite suddenly. I'm still being careful with it though. Maybe think about a tentative run next week sometime. I'm very nervous though.

a.. thank you. I've been keeping off of here 'cos its making me very jealous to see how everyone else is progressing (especially you....woohooo....you're rocking it!!) when I'm hobbling about as befitting an ol' gel of my age 😏

Trust me... I’m taking a couple of days off after this weekend!

You’ll get back to it... there is no pressure is there... walk run walk ...

you’re a graduate so can now do whatever you want...

Jools2020 kept me under control .. my competitive Annie in my head wouldn’t let me do less than 5k BUT she showed me it’s ok to mix it up.. do short faster, even short slower... loner runs... run and walk (google fartlek runs.. )

That’s the beauty of being a graduate! 👏👏👏

You will get there 🏃🏽‍♀️👍 💕
