But not without its issues, I’m now getting knee pain when running fir 30 minutes. I took 3 weeks off to rest my knee but now it still hurts after the run. But I’m delighted I got through this and thoroughly recommend anyone having a tough time on the earlier weeks to keep going, repeat weeks if need be, but just keep at it!!!
However. I’ve graduated and now can run for 30 minutes and nearly 5km. I’m delighted cos I never been able to even interested in running that far
What next??? Well I’m wanting to get to 10km but I’m just not sure about my fecking knee!!! 😂
Any particular ITB support you recommend. It’s not the putter aspect that hurting more middle of the knee. I’m starting strengthening exercises but i thought that this running malarkey would have done that!!! 😂
Mine is from Amazon I will find the link and send. My pain is outside but maybe google middle of knee pain. I am going to do 10K too. But just consolidating and stretching at mo X
Woohoo, well done! That’s brilliant! Shame about the knee Does having more rest days between runs help? That’s what I’m doing for a knee twinge, in the hopes that it will help.
Congratulations!!! And yes.....Knees knees knees! me too l didn’t even notice l had knees before l started this running business and now they seem to speak to me at unexpected points during the day. For now l would just to bask in the glory of geaduating, then l guess the advice would be to see a professional. Well done you though!
Have you been doing knee strengthening exercises? They can really help if what you're dealing with is due to some under-developed muscles. I have an issue where my kneecap does not move along the path it's meant to and gives me trouble if I'm not doing exercises to keep it strong. Likely I'll be able to drop them some time after graduation once I'm all strengthened up and using the muscles enough to keep things in line, but for now I have to keep up with them or pay the price. I know what my knee issue is because it was diagnosed by a physiotherapist several years ago.
Mate, go and check that knee out. Start with your GP first and see what they say but avoid the old trap of 'painkillers every 4 hours'. You want to get rid of the issue, not conceal it. Ask to see a physio, don't leave the surgery without the referral. GP will resist but do say that it affects your walking and, ultimately, your job/livelihood. They will give in then.
My issues with knee and ankle injuries are well documented here, I have bored people to death but at least I know what it's like when things go very wrong.
I saw a chiropractor who did an ultrasound and confirmed old age wear and tear. Now use a knee support and foam roller and by some miracle 7 weeks in knee pain all gone. I think some of it was using muscles I hadn’t used for years. The other tip he gave me was keep moving. Try to run in the morning and keep moving for the rest of the day. Seems to have worked
