Feeling quite nervous about even trying to run.. I’m 14.4st and need to loose a stone at least, and hoping that running can eventually be something I enjoy and be able to cover some good distance

Honestly it’s addictive! I’m week 7 run 2 and it isn’t pleasant out there some day’s and I’m currently reading up on how to lower heart rate whilst running, BUT I feel amazing and would trust this app with my LIFE as it really does work! Have you got nice running shoes? Also drink plenty the day before your runs too, as this helps avoiding the heavy legs feeling xx

I have asics trainers, not sure if they are running shoes, but they are comfy and lightweight. That’s great that you are so far along in the program and that you are liking it. Let’s hope I like it too!

Woo good luck! I'm on week 6 and would say from the start, dont focus on distance. Focus on the fact you're able to run for 'x' amount of time! Distance comes after you've finished the program, or at least that's what I'm gathering from other people!

Hi, week 6! Well done! Yes I have gathered it’s a gradual process, I guess I’m looking longer term as in, it’s something I can do on my own with out my 4 year old in tow lol

Take it slow. The aim at the end of C25K is to be able to jog (not necessarily run) for thirty minutes three times. Distance isn't a factor, even if it is in the name.

Thank you for that info, I am wanting to be able to just get active and fitter, and loose excess weight. At the moment I have my 4 year old with me through the first couple of weeks of c25k as of the holidays so I’m guessing I might have to re do the program once he is at school in sept.

I doubt you'd need to start again from scratch. It's allowed for you to run slow enough for your little lad to keep up with you. In fact, it's positively encouraged that you run slowly.

That sounds fab! As I’m using this time to get him out in the fresh air and if I can do this with him in tow, even better!

It’s really Enjoyable first two weeks are hard if not used to running but after it’s amazing and feels great 👍

I wasn’t either havnt run since I was kid but was a bit out Breath and couldn’t complete the first week run 2 struggled but did it again and was fine depends on your fitness Level really I was new to doing anything but took it slow and love it now am on week 5 run 1 tomorrow.😊👍

Hi there!

I'm just about to embark on W3D1 and I'm really looking forward to it!

I had a blip in the beginning because I was jogging/running too fast and couldn't catch my breath and became a bit anxious if I would be able to continue the course.

Fortunately I discovered this video......

....and I joined this wonderful, positive group to ask if this kind of jogging was "acceptable" and received many replies saying a resounding YES!

Also it's a good idea not to worry too much about your weight at this stage as the scale will go up and down depending on how much fluid you have in you and some of it will be retained to aid your muscle repair amongst other things. It can be very disheartening and confusing if you are gaining a couple of pounds/kilos here and there and it seems forever to come off. A much more reliable method is the tape measure (in my humble opinion) and take various measurements every 2-4 weeks and see how you get on. For example I have lost 1 kg but 2 inches on my waistline in. Yaaay! :D

Well done on starting, running can help with weight loss, as long as the diet is watched, such as calorie controlled.

Water intake can also help with weight loss and needs to be kept up all of the time for hydration, not just before a run, when it's very hot you may want to take water with you.

As long as your shoes are comfy then that's all you need when starting out, if you stay with the programme then by week 4 you may want to check your shoes are good and if in doubt get a new pair of running shoes they don't need to cost mega bucks or be top of the range..
