I have started couch to 5k before and got to week 3 and struggled. So am starting again tomorrow after a year off and need to seriously loose some weight! Wish me luck!

Don’t be nervous just give it a go! The weeks will fly by & you’ll do great! Take your time and be gentle with yourself 👍🏻

Go slow. Very slow. I have a lot to lose and am about to embark on week 9 on Tuesday. When Laura says go slow, listen. If you get really stuck repeat a session or week. I also made sure I drunk plenty the day before I run. I run at 7 in thr morning and this makes a difference. Finally I used to run with music and now I run with a podcast and it makes a big difference in terms of distraction. Good luck.

Go slower than you think is slow. Distance isn't the goal, time is. The target is to run for 30 minutes.

Welcome to the forum and well done on your decision.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

Well hello and welcome Abbeyfarrant

You don’t need luck because this magical little plan will turn you into a Runner like it has all of us..

perhaps your struggled cos going too fast last time... even tho u may have thought it was slow...

This may help.... and it may also help you to know we are all the same when we start .... 60 seconds sounds easy until you try- I could barely do 20 seconds until something be shared this with me ... post on here after every run- the people are amazing and I could not have done it without them 💕

I struggled through week 1 until I watched this and it has made all the difference!

That’s fab - it fitted into place when I watched it but I didn’t find the forum until week 5 🙈

Best of luck! It's forecast to be quite a warm week especially towards the end. I was out just after 7.00am last Friday. It was lovely. If you're able, I'd recommend going out early.

I was out at 7.25am on Friday. It was already getting too warm by that point.

One problem with the British summer is that the weather is so often not consistent. A day of heatwave, then a week of cold and wet, then another few heatwave days. You can't acclimatise.

I agree, it's not possible to get into a fixed routine. I just aim for when it's cooler if I'm able or if it's breezy. Compared to 25 degrees, I'll go for drizzle every time.

Don't be nervous . It the first step to something new. I never thought I would be running . Took me 2 goes but I got there. I love it . I just do 3 runs a week for half hour . Never thought I would manage 5 mins. Good luck and just enjoy it.

You can do it and you will do it. Get past wk 4 and you'll wonder what the problem was. Go for it.

Hey, good luck. Don't be nervous. Follow the programme and read the guide on this forum. Take it nice and slowly and you will be fine. Look forward to seeing some updates from you. All the best. 🙂

My best advice: run slowly to begin with (the difference between running and walking is a big thing in itself, speed comes later); don't compare yourselves to others; and prepared to be amazed at what will happen to your body - and enjoy yourself!
