week 4 run 1

I thought the jump from 3 mins to 5 mins would be a bit much, that i wouldnt manage such a huge jump, during the run it was too much, i really wanted to stop and the second 5 minute run, that when the voice started up it was going to tell me i had one minute left, but i was only halfway! but sruprisingly i could keep going, more importantly I am not exhausted afterwards, far from it, I feel like i am recovering already and this is really manageable.

Last run in week 5 seems a bit much, but the programme has worked so far, so why not?

Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Can you speak aloud, clear, ungasping sentences as you run?.........if not, you are going too fast.

Enjoy your journey.

Well done. And that’s inspirational.

It’s amazing how it works isn’t it? We truly have a battle in our heads aswell as our legs and lungs!

As someone who has just done W5R3, I can honestly say that I found parts of Week 4 harder. (Lousy weather didn't help.)

Plough on! The programme works.
