Hi everyone! This is my first post on here, I'm hoping to get some support from others and join a community to make my journey feel a little less lonely!
I've just finished week 2 of the C25K, and I'm thinking I need better running shoes. I'm a fairly big guy, around 16 stone, and my feet are wider than average. Does anyone have any recommendations on where to get some running shoes in the UK (preferably online, given the pandemic!)? And could you give me an idea of how much I should look to spend? I've never run before this, except back in school, so it's all new to me.
Thanks in advance!!!

Well done for making a start! 😀running is such a great way to improve both physical health and mental health- I often feel so happy and proud of myself after a run, and ready to face stresses of the day!
I bought new shoes around week 7- that was the best decision to make (few weeks later running socks). I did go to a local shop and they did a gait analysis. Based on that they recommend shoes I tried them on and love them! 🌼
I agree with that last comment. Best way is a gait analysis at a running shop (usually free), shoes can cost from £50.00 upwards but does make a huge difference. Good luck.
and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.
There is a link in the guide to a post about buying shoes.
You cannot beat trying on several pairs to find which suit you best and a gait analysis is the only way you can be sure that your shoes suit your running style.
They are the best investment you can make in your fitness.
