I'm going to sports direct today to pick out some running shoes as I've been using normal trainers and their killing my feet! Any suggestions on a good pair of running shoes?

How long have you worn trainers for? Can you get some tips for those of us still not attending shops please ☺️. Great your being that dedicated to upgrade too. Well done.

I would suggest going to a specialist running shop for a gait analysis first then you will get the best advice of the type of show you need !

Google 'Up & Running' in your area .

The gait analysis is free

Just a warning that flashy, fashionable trainers do not make for good running shoes.

You might be better going to a specialist running shop rather than Mr Ashley's emporium.

I did gait analysis and tried on lots of shoes. Really fancied the brighter colours as I like a bit of eye candy. However I ended up choosing probably the most boring looking ones in the shop as they were the most comfortable (really proud of myself for making the right decision for once). Sorry to Brooks, as they were a pair of Brooks Ghost 12, mainly black with a blue flash☹️.

I must put up a photo of a selection of my shoe collection at some point. 😁

We went to Up and Running to get our new trainers where two members of staff saw us individually - we didn't have to book an appointment. We ran a little on their treadmill which was videoed so they could show us how we were running. They asked a few questions on how long we had been running and were not at all judgemental when we mentioned C25K and how slow we were! Then they brought out about half a dozen pairs of trainers to try and even had me running up and down the shop to see what the trainers felt like. The guys were very friendly and gave us some tips along the way but there was no hard sell. In the end we both weirdly chose the same make and style (although we didn't know it at the time!) and although they weren't cheap at £120 a pair we have not had any blisters or sore feet. Good luck

Hello Bettyyy Thank you for this report on Up and Running. I am looking to get some proper running shoes to replace my trainers and through this forum discovered Up and Running. My nearest shop is in Nottingham but that is a good hours drive away for me, so I was wondering if the customer service and advice would be worth the journey. You have put my mind at rest and after this second lockdown finishes I shall make the trip. Could you possibly tell me what sort you got so I can read up about them on their website. Thanking you in advance Rosealie
