W5 R3 - it's as bad as you think, and not nearly as bad as you think

Feeling pretty wrapped to have got that one ticked off and out of the way. Like most people, the escalation of the plan seemed daunting and I was very nervous about this one.

When I woke up, I tried my hardest to give myself excuses "does my calf still feel tight from the last run? Should I wait?." "It's already a bit hot, maybe I should wait"

Went out in the end, and whilst it wasn't pretty it was 20 minutes and I feel like, for the first time I really 'trust the program'

I think the run was the hardest I've done mentally, in that there is so long at a single pace it feels a little relentless, and you definitely have thoughts of 'I don't know if I'm going to make it, or... I've done so well already, maybe I stop here and try again next time.

Physically though, it was nowhere near as bad as I thought, legs and body feel fine and as much as I got slower through out, I certainly wasn't panting on the side of the road.

(I am looking forward to two more interval runs next week though)

That's hopefully me on Sunday.

Well done!

You're going to absolutely smash it, and it really is a nice mental hurdle to be over.

Yep, I did. My experience was very similar to yours:

Congratulations on completing run 3 of week 5, that run isn't too bad, is it, no.

Onwards and upwards to week 6 run 1 but be careful about that run as it catches out some people with the interval walks and runs after the non stop 20 minutes of W5R3 which you have just ran 🏃🏾 😊
