Consolidation Run 2 - Another 4K !

My usual early start for this run! I had an idea of where I was going. I love this planning of routes! I had decided to cut out the longer grass area which I found so difficult on Monday and make up the distance by running on the road away from the village for a while.

Everything ready, warm up walk, Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here 🎶🎧, Strava set to record. I’m off! Running through the village and loving it straight away! I soon find out that it’s actually not possible to play air guitar while running! I know every single note to Shine On You Crazy Diamond and there are no words in the long guitar intro to sing along to 😂. I’m lost in one of my favourite pieces of music. I part company with Monday’s route and run on the track past the Crazy Horse People’s house, and out onto the road and away from the village. I wave happily to a few cars and lorry drivers for giving me space. When Strava announces 1 kilometre I’m surprised. It’s a good time! My second kilometre isn’t as fast, and I realise I’m probably not going to get my 4K in within 30 minutes, which is what I was hoping to do. I decide not to push. My body has to get used to running on the road and I don’t want to overdo it.

But I do want to do well, so I push on through the third kilometre. I’m heading back towards the village now and take the track that leads to the river. I run up the small slope (yes, there is just the one!) and turn right so I’m running parallel to the river on a track, away from the village. I’m tiring, but not as much as on Monday. I run on until I reach the gate where I have to turn round. I run back, towards home! 4K! I take my phone out to check. I haven’t made it within 30 minutes and don’t want to push the distance today. That can wait. I’ll stick with 4K for now. When I can get that 4K within 30 minutes I’ll push again. Consolidation Run 2 complete and it was still my longest run on Strava! And an improved pace, too! I’ll take that, thank you very much! Warm down walk and home!

Well done Jools. That's another great run. Good choice of music too. Got Another Brick In The Wall Part 2 on my playlist. It's a song I play with my 2 sons in our band. I regularly play air guitar bass line in my head when it comes on lol😂 Getting up early tomorrow for my consolidation run 2 to beat the heat as it's forecast very hot Thursday and Friday. Will post after my run on a new route.👍😀

Thank you, I enjoyed the run and the music. I must make a playlist. I’ve just been playing albums up until now. Love The Wall as well!

Good luck on your early run tomorrow. I hadn’t realised it was going to be hot. I’ll have to have an even earlier start on Friday!

Actually, I should have put my contacts in and switched my brain on before reading your post !

It's shine on, I recorded on my electric guitar .

Not wish you were here !

Although I can play that intro also on my 12 string accoustic 😬

Excellent consolidation run Jools !

Well done, looks and sounds a good route also .

I think your right , stick now to the 4k which will soon become the norm , then again the pace will come next 👍

May I say a great Floyd track to run too.

I also know every single note and regularly play it on my electric (not air) guitar 😬

I have a recording of me playing it to a backing track that took me ages 😬

Keep up this great work 👍🏃

4k in 30 won't be far away !

Thanks, Ian! I used to have an electric guitar, but it’s been sold. I didn’t ever get good enough to play Shine On, but I enjoyed what I did. Still have an acoustic guitar, though!

Looking forward to 4K in 30 minutes. Next week, I think!

Oh, do you still play the acoustic ?

Great 4k in 30 next week !

You will do it , it's good to have these targets 😬🏃👍

And 2nd 4K 👍!! Well done Jools ! Definitely consolidating and getting used to running 30 mins ... which now happens to be 4K .. so fitting in nicely with the forum's advice that stamina builds speed which increases distance.

Always left with a smile when I read your posts and your achievements... well done again 👏👏👏

Thanks. I hadn’t thought of it like that, but you’re right! I’m proof that it works! Well, we are all proof that it works, aren’t we?

Your support is appreciated 😀 and good to make you smile! I hadn’t realised how much I would enjoy these consolidation runs. I had a hint of it through reading your posts, but wow! I can’t wait to get out there!
