My usual early start for this run! I had an idea of where I was going. I love this planning of routes! I had decided to cut out the longer grass area which I found so difficult on Monday and make up the distance by running on the road away from the village for a while.
Everything ready, warm up walk, Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here 🎶🎧, Strava set to record. I’m off! Running through the village and loving it straight away! I soon find out that it’s actually not possible to play air guitar while running! I know every single note to Shine On You Crazy Diamond and there are no words in the long guitar intro to sing along to 😂. I’m lost in one of my favourite pieces of music. I part company with Monday’s route and run on the track past the Crazy Horse People’s house, and out onto the road and away from the village. I wave happily to a few cars and lorry drivers for giving me space. When Strava announces 1 kilometre I’m surprised. It’s a good time! My second kilometre isn’t as fast, and I realise I’m probably not going to get my 4K in within 30 minutes, which is what I was hoping to do. I decide not to push. My body has to get used to running on the road and I don’t want to overdo it.
But I do want to do well, so I push on through the third kilometre. I’m heading back towards the village now and take the track that leads to the river. I run up the small slope (yes, there is just the one!) and turn right so I’m running parallel to the river on a track, away from the village. I’m tiring, but not as much as on Monday. I run on until I reach the gate where I have to turn round. I run back, towards home! 4K! I take my phone out to check. I haven’t made it within 30 minutes and don’t want to push the distance today. That can wait. I’ll stick with 4K for now. When I can get that 4K within 30 minutes I’ll push again. Consolidation Run 2 complete and it was still my longest run on Strava! And an improved pace, too! I’ll take that, thank you very much! Warm down walk and home!
