I set off even earlier this morning, having struggled with the heat on the last kilometre of my run on Saturday.
I have some new running shoes for the road, but I decided to mix track and trail again today, so I wore the old ones, they are so comfortable 😊
So, off I went! Warm up walk done and I was off, listening to my playlist 🎧 🎶 which included Queen’s ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’, which happened to play at exactly the right time during the last half kilometre when I needed an extra push!
I’ve reconfigured my watch face so I can keep an eye on the heart rate zones. (Thanks to MontyMooDog for helping me get the most out of my Garmin Vivoactive 3). Turns out my heart was beating for the whole of my run!
More traffic this morning on the main road, but fortunately considerate drivers. I managed to give them all a little wave of thanks! Other than that, I had the village to myself.
I had decided to keep it relatively slow for the first kilometre. I think it works better for me; then I can gradually speed up. It didn’t quite work out that way, but never mind - I push on!
There is a part of my route that has a segment. I noticed it on Strava last time I followed this route - so I speed up during this part of the run to try and give a good account of myself!
The run is going well, I check my pace at every kilometre and I notice with excitement that I seem to be under 8 minutes for some of them! I’m enjoying the run and keeping an eye on the heart rate zones, too! Last kilometre (I knew I would make it to 4K again) and I’m definitely tiring, but not as much as my previous run in the heat. My watch tells me I’ve reached 4K and I can’t even wait until I get home to check my pace. Yes! 7:51. I’ll take that, thank you!

Thanks! It’s still a mixture of trail and track. I’m wearing my new hard surface running shoes round the house today to get used to wearing them! Maybe next time I’ll keep entirely on the roads! Just a bit nervous about it. New shoes, hard surface ...... Could be a recipe for disaster. Or could improve my pace 😀
I love that 4K is the norm. Hoping to get it to be the norm within 30 minutes. It’s not for want of trying!
I like the tech, too! One swipe of the watch and I have my heart rate zones! It’s just so pretty with all the different colours 😂
