Treated myself yesterday after graduating last week and invested in a pair of proper running shoes. Apart from my Brasher Hillmaster GTX walking boots which I bought in 1996 for £135 (and lasted 20 years) these are the most expensive item of footwear I've ever purchased. Doubt they will outlive the Brasher's though😂 Tried them out for my first consolidation run and felt like I was running on air👍😀 Decided to drop the C25K app on my phone and try my own music and commentary via my watch. Shame the run didn't go quite so well though as had a few technical hitches trying to pair my watch with my earphones which resulted in a false start😂 Halfway through my playlist decided to cut out as well but battled on with no music and saw the 30 minutes out. Will try to get to grips with this new technology before consolidation run 2 on Thursday😂👍😁

Consolidation Run 1 - Check these bad boys out 😂😂
Ooh nice! I bet they cost enough too! But very nice indeed! And well done with the consolidation run, I pushed hard today on fields and woods and I wanted to die in some parts lol x I’m
Only on week 6 run 2 though so a good bit behind you x
Thanks. Yea £120 including a "free gait analysis" which took all of 60 seconds but hey ho I think it's worth doing it right for your first pair. Good luck on the rest of the program but if your on w6r2 you've got it in the bag....👍😀😀
Aw you’re kind x I think I may be online shopping for some runners lungs soon as mine are about ready to give up on me aha x I overpronate have flat feet so I have to have expensive shoes and I hate paying the prices but it hurts otherwise so we have to just cough up x have you tried brooks before? I haven’t and just wondered if they’re Bette than ascis or hokka?
No never had a proper pair before. Normally I can get around 5 pairs from Sports Direct for what I paid for these. These are neutral gait and heavily cushioned as I'm 15st 10lb so quite a heavy runner. Brooks have a reputation for having a wide toe box I believe but Asics are quite narrow. Not sure about the others you mentioned...
Ah right they wouldn’t be any good for me then I need mobility, ascis gel kayano are the dream but around the same price as those brooks so I’m saving, I wear Adidas alphaboost atm as they are ok for the support but I don’t think their very nice to look at lol x anyway happy new trainers day!
Oooh very nice! I’m waiting for an email from the online shop about replacement shoes for the mistake they sent me today! I tried them on and I was willing my feet to get wider so they would fit!
Well done for the run, in spite of the technical hitches! I‘ve had my share of those lately. Garmin has been down. Watch couldn’t get a gps signal. Having to record directly onto Strava, which seems to work ok and it has the little map that I love! (It’s the little things, right?)
Actually, you didn’t write very much about the run itself so it must have been ok! I’m planning to do Consolidation 2 tomorrow. Shame I won’t have my new shoes, but the Salomon trail shoes I have are very nice. I’ll go on a mixed route of trail and road. Planning on taking it easy. But you never know. 😂
Yes run itself was uneventful really. Am trying a new venue Thursday which I'm hoping is a bit flatter than my usual route😂
You need flat? Come to the Norfolk fens, I’ll show you flat 😂😂😂
Ha ha. Yes it is rather over there... Nice part of the world though👍 I'm going to run on a disused railway track (there and back) but it has got a slight incline so will take it easy and see. Trying to get some baseline data for my 30 minute run as up to now have included the warm up / down but now want to just record the run👍
I’ve just been recording the run only since Week 6 Run 3. I’ve been steadily improving since then! I was painfully slow, so the only way is up. It’s SO gratifying when Strava says ‘This is your longest run on Strava’ and you can drool over the stats over a nice post run coffee! I’ve roped in my son and 2 grandchildren to give me kudos 😂
Nice footwear!
Technology can really let us down sometimes.
