So it’s time!!! Time to start a new journey - hoping to get healthy, lose weight and most importantly get some confidence back!
After being inspired to start the couch to 5k by my sisters I decided to trial it on Friday (can we just note my level of fitness is lifting my fork to my mouth and that’s normally as far as it goes)
During that trial first run, I actually thought I was not going to make it home, I even had to walk through one of the runs 🙈😬 but I thought just being out and giving it a go is better than being sat at home on my laptop munching on whatever snack I can get my chubby (pigs trotter) hands on.
It was a killer but everyone has to start somewhere right?! Then my sister told me about Japanese slow running, so I have watched the you tube clip on it and I’m going to give it a go tomorrow when I officially start my C25K journey - who’s with me?
Always open to advise so any tips for my first week, let me know x

Right decision
Right time!
Well done you. Your sister's can give you lots of support too. Stay with it, be consistent and it takes care of itself. Hydrate well each and every day and stretch and this journey will be epic. We all started there with it all out in front of us. The journey is the very best part. Good luck, keep going and remember; every time you get out of the door to run it's a victory! 🥇🎽
This is your time, do it for you. You deserve it 😊
You’ve made a start! Congratulations! I made a start just 3months ago and I’m now a graduate, who’s been through all the highs (there were many) and some lows (not gonna lie!) along the way. Best bits of advice I can give are
1) drink LOTS of water, every day, not just on running days. When I hadn’t drunk enough, I found my stamina was really poor, I had no energy in my legs and I got out of breath so quickly. If you’re not used to drinking much water, you’ll need to get used to drinking so much that, at first, you’ll constantly be needing the loo! But your body will adjust, and it has the added bonus of helping the skin look fresh and glowing too 😊
2) it’s hard to get used to the idea of going really, really slowly. But if you go too fast, you’ll wear yourself out, get injuries and feel despondent when it doesn’t go well. The Japanese running method is a good starting point to help with this.
3) post on here regularly, to share your successes, concerns, any setbacks and just to let everyone know how you’re doing. I’ve never (yet) met any of the people I’ve corresponded with on here, yet I now class them as good friends that I can share all my running woes and adventures with. They helped me through it, and they’ll do the same for you too!
Put yourself in the safe hands of the programme, good luck, and happy running 🏃♀️😀
