My wife and I took up the couch to 5k challenge 9 weeks ago and completed it on July 24th. My wife was a non-runner up to starting the challenge and I am of average fitness. We are both in our 50's. My wife was not looking forward to running for a full 5 minutes but managed it. She progressed through each week culminating in completing a measured 5k in 40 minutes on the last day! So proud of her! She suffers from fibromyalgia but bought a good pair of running shoes and followed the plan carefully. I'd like to encourage anyone who is thinking about starting it to go for it. If you're struggling, keep going! We've run through gale force winds, downpours and sunshine. We've enjoyed every minute and laughed when things felt tough. Huge thanks to all those involved in getting the app out into the public domain and to Michael Johnson for guiding us through our training. We are now going to keep it going and look forward to many more miles together.

Awwh so nice! Best to you both! As a fellow newbie runner with a rather more fit but currently leg-injured husband, I wonder if you run separately or if you plan your runs so that you can run together?

I and my husband are also enjoying currently having the same ‘hobby’ and find ourselves discussing splits, routes, stretches, and running strategies, even despite the fact that our fitness levels and health conditions are very different.

Hiya, thanks for asking. Nice to hear that you are both enjoying the running. We always run together as that was the plan from the start. It's so much easier and enjoyable when you run as a twosome. I find you can really encourage one another on! We do plan our routes together and even do our stretches as the same time. Even though our fitness levels have always been quite different, the c25k has been a brilliant way to exercise together.

Nice 👍🏽! Just read this out loud to my husband. We are not quite at the level of running 🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏻‍♂️ together (yet) but are doing the Strength & Flex program in our off days together. But something to work towards. So thank you! 🙏 Lovely to hear from a running couple. Greetings from one running couple to another.📨
