I’ve not been very active recently because I’ve been focused on work 😬 my run on Wednesday was so frustrating. I was fine time wise, distance wise etc, but it just seemed exhausting, I wasn’t mentally looking forward to it and my body didn’t seem to want to either! My pace was slower than usual which wouldn’t usually bother me but it seemed to really frustrate me that day.
Today’s run was significantly better. I was frustrated at my recent interview for a job that I’ve wanted for a while now, so I decided the next day to get up and go for it in regards to the run and try and do better than the previous run. Good thing I did too, as I’m really surprised about how I done. I knew I wanted to set off at a faster pace as today is my speed day, but something else took over - maybe I need to get more frustrated at things sometimes because it definitely worked. Significantly more exhausted than usual as you can see but I’m so happy with this run, and here’s a photo of it to show you guys how I done!
I think this hopefully teaches me and other people a lesson. Don’t be put off by one bad run, you’ll be surprised how quickly you bounce back. Have two days rest and then will try and get to 4.5K for my next long distance one!

Good advice, of course! No point in getting despondent, running is not just about setting personal bests and improving all the time. We need to enjoy it, too. I need to follow my own advice here, and I did this morning. My graduation run was so slow! I didn’t push at all and really enjoyed it!
Well done on talking yourself through this! Yes, we do all get those bad runs - I always tell myself that it's the tough ones that make me stronger mentally. They also make the good runs sweeter! 😉👍
It was definitely exhausting, not sure if I could have kept that up the whole run (heart rate as at about 185bpm at that point I think which is the highest it's been in a while) but yeah 4K in 30 minutes would be amazing! Will just have to keep on pushing on my speed days and hope it affects the rest of my pace in regards to my other runs!
I've had a fairly similar week, the runs have been hard! I've been consolidating with 5k runs and they've been going well but this week has been a stinker!
At the beginning of the week I struggled a lot, and had to stop after 2.5k; next run I made it to 3k but had to stop. So frustrating, because I couldn't put it down to any one thing.... I just couldn't carry on.
Today I went out with an open mind on distance and time, and managed to hit a 5k. The pace was quite a bit slower than my usual, and I even had to walk for 20secs halfway through, but I've done it and hopefully now I'll have my mental mojo back!
Wish I would have seen this before my run today! This is a great idea, will put this into practise on Wednesday, I’ve found a playlist that’s 160-165BPM so hopefully we will see if that’s sustainable even with the 165BPM songs than a metronome 😬😂
