I've just completed W9R2 - still can't believe that I actually ran for 30 minutes...but how to people work out as they're running how far they've been?
I've got Google Fit on my phone and that now says I ran for 4.6km this morning, but how would I find that out as I'm running? I know I'm slow so I know I'll need to run for more than 30 minutes to reach 5km, but that doesn't bother me! I just want to know when I've managed it!!!

Was the 4.6km part of the warm up/cool down walk? Or has GF recorded the run separately? Your phone uses GPS and so the 4.6km will be an accurate reading of how far you’ve got. No matter how far you ran you actually ran for half an hour non stop and that is a brilliant achievement. Enjoy the fact you can do it and not worry about distance covered.
Thanks for your reply. Google fit records my walks separately (so I know I'm running quicker than I can walk!). I am enjoying it (never thought I would say that at the beginning!) but would just like to know when I've got to 5k if that makes sense!
The app I'm currently using to track my runs is the totally free (and no ads) FitoTrack one from Google Play.
It can be set to announce the minutes or to announce distances, or both (or neither). I have it set to not announce at the moment -- it's annoying to have it talk over what Jo Wiley's saying.
One useful feature is that you can go to either the speed or height graphs, drag your finger across them and the dot on the map shows where that point was.
