Hello. I have no idea on weight as I never weigh myself. I have however lost 1 1/2 inches from my waist and hips so far. I’m currently Week 7.

Nope but i eat my body weight in percy pigs regularly, bake often and comfort eat. Having said that I have toned up and there is definition where once was none ☺️

Love a Percy pig 🙈 🤣 and a treat is allowed... I’m definitely eating less percy’s than I was too 👍

I prefer the Colin Caterpillars myself. Nice and fizzy.

Ive lost 2st... but I’ve also been counting calories.... I’m on Week 8 but it’s taken me 10 weeks to get here due to extra rest days.

Good luck on your journey.

See you at the finish line!

Although I doubt you lose weight on the shorter runs... Google reply..."30 minutes of running will burn between 280 and 520 calories, depending on your weight and speed. " So once you are doing that 3 times a week, if you each the same, you would lose weight.

However, when you are running regularly it is encouragement to eat healthier. Hope you are having fun. 🤸🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️💃👍

I put weight on...which was good..and then evened out. Healthy eating , great hydration and exercise..is a winning combination..but may not result in weight loss 😉

I was 16 stone 8 and now I’m 15.1 so I have lost weight doing this and it’s made me enjoy healthier food more as I’m conscious it’s going to fuel my runs, I still enjoy treats but not to excess anymore 🏃‍♂️

As a lifelong yoyo dieter, I lost 3 stone before starting the programme. I meant to cut down on meat but ended up vegetarian, which suits me very nicely. I also cut out processed foods and alcohol.

I now drink moderately and don't obsess about calories but I haven't put any of the weight back on. What running has done for me is stabilise my weight. I will never again be a yoyo dieter.

Have watched what I eat more but in the 10 weeks I've been doing this ( I had a practise week too) I've lost one and a half stone ( 21 pounds)👍😀

I have not lost a pound! Am on week 3 and I am a mom of 4 and about 4 stone too heavy but I have stayed eating the same so that’s why !! I am going to start reducing my portion sizes though because I want to be fit and fabulous 😂

Hello sally1993

I believe exercise is good for you. I feel much better after I exercise. Exercise results in better muscle tone, increased insulin sensitivity of muscles, increased strength and increased bone density. So there are many benefits to regular exercise. Weight loss, though, is not listed.

I tried to lose weight through exercise for many years, unsuccessfully. It was only when I changed my eating habits that I lost weight. You shouldn't expect that you will lose weight through running on its own.

Thank you everyone! What a different bunch of responses -I guess everyone is different. I didn't start this to lose weight but I'm starting to get tempted with the idea of the lean, toned athlete that I could become haha.. sounds like diet is very important, but running really helps with mindset. <3

Hi Sally

I went for the embed exercise first tackle diet later ... I’ve noticed my body shape changing but the best thing is .. my diet is naturally evolving too.. I’m now making some tweaks and healthy swaps... I’ve not gone hardcore as I know myself and I would fail but the running inspires me to swap foods and eat healthier which in turn delivers weight loss... without me even thinking about it... which is fab!

Best of luck - you will love this forum... the people are fab.. I couldn’t have done it without them

Yes I did I lost 22lbs between Feb 2019 and September 2019. I started the C25K in the January 2019 and graduated March 2019. I could not afford to lose this weight and as a result I had a number of medical checks, x-rays, blood tests and scans as they thought it could be cancer. All the tests came back clear and it seems it’s as a result of the running and my metabolic rate stepping up to the extra exercise. It appears that as I was eating healthily already and with the exercise the weight started to come off. I returned to the weight I was when I was 18!back in the 70’s. I had to ensure I ate more as a result of the running.

Wow what a story! Our bodies are so amazing x (glad you are ok and it was just your metabolism :) )

Thanks it was a bit of a shock having all these tests all within the two week period but hopefully weight has stabilised now. I still only run once or twice a week and usually only to complete a 5k what ever time that’s takes which currently is between 26-29 mins so pretty pleased with that. I did a couple of half marathons one in training to make sure I could do it and then my official one in memory of my mum raising funds for the Hospice, probably the last big race before lockdown March 2020 almost a year both to the day I graduated and the day my mum passed in the hospice. I ran and was able to tell her I had graduated before she passed having spent nearly four days solid in the hospice with her. So that may of had something to do with the weight loss as well although the loss continued after she had passed.

You are so strong and so resilient, you should be so proud of yourself <3. Grief is such a funny thing and it can take a long time to process and it really affects your body as well as your mind, sounds like you are processing things. How wonderful you were able to tell her you graduated :).

Yes she had followed my very short running career on C25K from when I started in the January to graduation. I am sure she knew I had graduated although with all the drugs at the end who knows. I always run to music and I am sure she was with me on the graduation run. I was so close to giving up on that run then “The Temptations” song started to play. “Reach out and I will be there” the words were so appropriate that I was able to carry on and complete and not really looked back since. All sorts of distances up to half marathon completed. Good luck stick with it you will see a difference.

Hi Sally! I’ve not been weighing myself regularly but I have definitely lost inches around my waist and I have dropped a jean size!

I did weigh myself at the beginning of C25K and I’ll do the same again when I graduate to compare. But, I know muscle gain will confuse the scales - I’d need a proper BMI test (not the useless NHS model!)

sally1993 profile image
sally1993 in reply to PhoenixRise

Wow congrats at dropping a jean size how lovely! Sounds like measuring the waist could be the way to go, and not paying too much attention to the scales X

Personally, I avoid weighing/measuring because I know I’d get fixated with speed of results! I’ve just relied on the mirror and noticed changes around week 3/4. Enjoy your run later!

My clothes feel looser, with exception of thighs which are definitely bigger, but now I look toned instead of flabby. Best of all, am convinced my face looks younger and healthier - not that anyone else has said so, but I feel happier when I look in the mirror since completing c25k - which took me 6 months!!
