Well that run was so hard I had to slow to a walk a couple of times 😩 but I did R1 with no problem. Thought I was supposed to be improving ?
Wk8 R 2: Well that run was so hard I had to slow... - Couch to 5K
Wk8 R 2
Don’t beat yourself up. You’ve already ran for 30 mins non stop and that is one hell of an achievement. We all have off days. Don’t let it get in your head. Believe in yourself and you’ll do it next time.
All sorts of things can affect our runs (lack of hydration, poor sleep etc) and occasional off days happen, so don't feel too down. If you completed your first 25 minute run, then you know your have it in you to do it again.
Put today's run down as a practice run and take an extra rest day before trying again. In the mean time keep well-hydrated (2-3 litres, even on rest days) and stretch out your muscles or do some strengthening exercises.
We all have tough runs where it just doesn’t flow smoothly, the next run should be great
Like the others say, don’t dwell on that last run. It’s history now. I’m sure you’ll be even more determined to smash the next one. Listen to your body. For whatever reason it didn’t work that time, but don’t let it put you off. A lot of this programme is psychological. If we let our thoughts of failure prevail, then we will. I sometimes let myself get nervous before some of the runs, but always managed to complete them. Good luck with your runs.
I did wk8r2 today. Was heavy going, legs were feeling it after 15k steps and yoga yesterday. I also tried to turn up my podcast but pressed the wrong button and restarted it, so spent an extra 5 mins slow running and trying to get back to where I was. But I survived and plodded on, slow as anything sometimes but we all have the odd meh day. Don't be disheartened. Tomorrow is another day and fresh start for running. Am hopefully doing run 3 on Thursday. Then next week, eek!!
Yes thanks, only had one tech issue where I stopped the podcast by accident but it was on the warm down walk home so didn't matter. Tight calves today but I was on uneven ground and taking care not to fall over so I don't mind the fact it was a plod not a sprint. Hope your next run goes ok. Three days rest for me (walking days) then week 9, eek!!
Thanks all for your support, I’ve been for the R3W8 and it was a lot better so putting the last run down to just a ‘Bad’ day. Bring on wk 9 😁🤞🏃♀️
