Has anyone lost weight by just running and slight changes to diet? I have been quite strict with what I was eating and not drinking alcohol etc. However the last few weeks have not been great food wise and having a few beers watching the football. I’m loving running but my original goal was too lose weight.

Running in itself could tone you down a little bit, but to lose weight you will have to go on a controlled and healthy diet as well, since I began C25K now just over two years ago in April 2018 I have never gone on a diet, I don't have a enormous appetite at any time, due to running I may have lost a few lbs, certainly not a stone, my weight before running was around 11st, its now without a diet 10st 7lbs, ha, I used to go to Burger King once every 3 weeks, since lockdown, looking at my receipt from the last time I was there which was the 19th March, so no junk food for me in 4 months.

No you have to diet to lose weight. Running won’t do that.

Started in February 2017 at 18.5 stones, now around 12.5 stones.

Used calorie counting, the NHS bmi calculator suggests suitable intakes for sensible weight loss.

I have been running daily covering about 60Km weekly for the last four months, but gain weight easily if I don't calorie count.

Running will help lose weight when running constant 30 min 3 times a week in conjunction with a calorie controlled diet, also drinking loads of water can help.

But you can't do the runs and think you can always have a reward and binge eat and booze.. then there's the word called moderation! ☺️

If you are in a calorie deficit then yes, you will most likely lose weight with the programme, but you will most likely need to make adjustments to fuel your body for the runs in the right manner. I’ve lost over 1 and a half stone in the last 3 months because of cleaning up my diet, a calorie deficit and doing strength training as well as running. However it’s completely up to you how you do it, some people have only made small changes and have lost a couple of pounds.
