Set out this morning after a poor night’s sleep, but the sun was shining on a glorious morning here in the fens and I’d been looking forward to this run 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️.
Off we went on the warm up walk. I had already decided that I wasn’t feeling it this morning. I thought it would be best not to push myself again like I had for the previous run; I would just take it steady and get Run 2 under my belt safely.
Michael counts me in and off we go! I’m running on the high (man made) riverbank; I do enjoy this run, even though it’s by necessity a ‘there and back’ run, rather than a circular route.
Queen through the headphones 🎵 ‘It’s a Beautiful Day’; yes, it is, Freddie! I feel a bit sluggish, first 5 minutes are hard. Settle into a pace, but it feels slow. At some stage, I feel my watch vibrating to tell me 1K. My pace is good! How did that happen!? Heartened, all thoughts of a steady run go out of the window and I start to push myself a bit! When will I learn to stop competing with myself 😂. I have to negotiate a gate, I’m annoyed at the loss of seconds. Halfway bell and still going strong. I keep pushing. I wonder if I’m going to make it, but I still keep up the pace. I look at my watch and see I’m easily going to make 3K. Yesss! Last five minutes and I’m still pushing. Michael cuts in to say slow down, but I’m not fooled this time and I carry on until the end! I’m out of breath and really tired.
Another personal best - 3.29K and pace 8:34. Yes, I’ll take that, thank you very much! Run successfully completed.
