I posted last week about my frustration with week 7 and not being able to complete the 25 mins in 2 on the runs. I didn’t like the thought of repeating Week 7, I wanted to get it out of the way so I moved onto Week 8 and feels so much better! I am still struggling in the last 5 mins but I’m able to carry on to the end- think it really was mind over matter. Today I completed 28 mins run and cover 4.67 KM which is my furthest yet. Very pleased! I have my final run of Week 8 on the weekend.
Week 8 feeling so much better!: I posted last... - Couch to 5K
Week 8 feeling so much better!
Well done, I’m also on week 8. I’m due run 2 tomo. 👍
That’s great Turtle_wins, your spot on it’s definitely mind over matter, it’s best not to allow any thoughts into your mind keep a clear mind, listen to a good playlist and just keep going. 4.67km is a really good distance too, well done 👍
Nice one. I told you last week it's now a mental battle here on in. Last week you ran 25 mins. This week it's only 3 mins more and you've built on the stamina you've gained from last week. You've got a great time there too so great run!!👍😀 You've got this wrapped up...
Thank you! Yes it’s true it’s about stamina building and building up that endurance, my gym is due to reopen in a couple weeks but I still want to carry on running at least once or twice a week as it’s a different type of fitness, no rest breaks for starters and great for building endurance and cardio fitness.
I found wk 7 the hardest as well. I think it is because it is the first week of constant running. Never looked back after wk7 and I'm a constant 5k runner now
Thanks for all those helpful comments as I am in week 7 and finding it hard this week. Also for the first time feel quite leg achey! Perhaps need to improve the cooldown stretching.
Can't quite work out why you moved onto another week if you weren't managing the previous one!
The programme is designed to build you up to 30 minutes safely, not just about ticking off sessions...
I completed two runs successfully in Week 7, then struggled with the third run so repeated that run and struggled again. So I knew it was a mental block rather than that I couldn’t physically do it, so felt like I should move onto a fresh week rather than dwelling on the unsuccessful runs during Week 7. These Week 8 runs have felt like a world apart though so I’m glad I’ve changed my mindset.
