First "failed" run throughout c25k and consolidation

I graduated a couple of weeks ago, consolidation runs ever since. I'm aiming for 3x a week but this week I ran Monday and then today (Friday). Well, I'm currently walking home. Managed a total of 16 minutes running. These are my excuses: its super windy, my headphones have run out of battery and I kept getting an awful stitch!!

The sensible side of me knows that 3 days off won't affect my abilities and fitness, but I'm really annoyed with myself! It just felt SO hard today, and I NEED music! Please can I have some comforting reassurance! To top it off my knees hurting now as I walk home!

One of my considation runs was really hard! I ran 15 minutes, walked, tried again... For 5 minutes and so on. I did do 30 minutes and wasn't sure why it didn't feel as good. Did another run 2 days later and all was good again. It is very normal to have the odd run that doesn't go the way you want. Don't stress and carry on as usual. I am now pushing beyond 30 minutes (am not much further along than you).

Don’t worry about any one run. Celebrate the 16 minutes you ran... wasn’t long ago that 16 minutes was beyond the impossible was it? I’ve been running for 2 years and while I’m getting better at beating the tough runs, sometimes one just beats me down and I don’t complete it... that’s ok, next time it goes down. Wind makes it quite a bit harder out there and a stitch stops most people in their tracks... you kept trying and should be proud of that. The headphones issue pushed you outside your comfort zone, and the combination of all the above was too much on this particular day. 16 minutes made you better for the next run, your legs won’t stop building because you didn’t fully complete today. Have a look at where you came from... remember how tough that first 60 seconds was? Remember how proud you were to run 60 seconds not many weeks ago? Today you ran 960 seconds and consider that a failure? How crazy does that really sound? Lower the bar... relax... enjoy your running. Most people out there can’t run 10 minutes on a good day... you can run 16 on a bad day! How awesome is that? How awesome are you?

Now now N3llyB, don’t be so hard on yourself. It’s not a fail - just put it down to a short run out.; we all have runs where things don’t go right but there’s little you can do other than write it off and go out again. You ran didn’t you? Put it down to practice and go out again in a day or two. If you were getting a stitch, could it be down to hydration?

NO NO NO NO NO.

We are not allowed to use that word on here. I stopped at the F word and have not read any more. Whatever you did, you did not fail. You learned something new and can improve next time.

Please, be gentler with yourself! Talk to yourself like you would a friend.

It was pretty awful out there tonight, I felt like I was constantly running into a headwind. And you lost your music as well, I’m not sure I could run without mine either. It kinda sounds like tonight wasn’t meant for you, no biggy, have another go when you’re ready 😊
