Just done wk4 run 1 and this probably sounds silly to some but running fur 5 mins was really hard😓 Not sure how i’m going to get to the end of this and be able to run 5k when I can’t do 5 min 🤔

Doesn’t sound silly - how about mine... week 1 I thought ‘running for 60 seconds?! Absolute doddle! ...’ how is that going to prepare me and get me running 5k?

HOW wrong I was ... 20 seconds in I was done!

Trust the programme - it’s true! I don’t know how but it works!

Remember nothing worth having comes easy and this is certainly worth the graft

Well done for getting to week 4

You got this!!!! I promise! 👏👏

Thanks and yes that’s true

I’m determined not to give in this time, I always get to week 3 then give up for one reason or another but not this time 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Hello Ginfiz! Nope, that really, like really, doesn't sound silly. From being on this forum I've found out that so many people, just like you and me, couldn't run for more than a minute at first. Five minutes seems like a lifetime... but d'ya know what.... the plan just builds up your stamina imperceptibly until before you know it you're running 20/25 minutes. You will do it. Trust the plan. Yeah, its a challenge but just repeat runs/whole weeks if you feel you need to. This adventure is for you... no-one else, so be kind to yourself, go out and do what you can. I'm sure you'll surprise yourself and feel like superyou soon. Will look forward to watching you progress.

After my first 60 seconds of W1R1... no that’s a lie... after about 20 seconds of that first run, I absolutely knew that 5k was going to be impossible. Right now, as you’re struggling with 5 minutes, of course 30 minutes and 5k are impossible... so don’t look at them. There was a really great guy (so great that they shot him) who told us that we don’t have to be able to see the top of the staircase to take the first step. That logic also applies when you’re part way up, it’s always one step at a time. This is your journey and so you can relax and do it in your own time. Maybe you’ll repeat some runs a few times, that’s more than OK. If your intervals are 5 minutes and you run 4s... that’s still adding significantly to your fitness... you’re getting stronger with every run... you will get there! Then, when you’ve finished your first 5k, just think... 21k is still impossible, for now!

You’ll do this, and you’ll do anything else you set your mind to do... just keep crossing those start lines.

Tinytears60 (AKA Princess TT) is absolutely right! The programme builds you up gradually, even the brisk walking plays an important part. I can do it (I ran 25 minutes this morning after practically collapsing after my first 60 second run) so can you! Celebrate each run, then focus on the next. You’ll get there. Good luck!

I can tell you that I felt exactly the same after I completed W4 R2, for the last min I was literally jogging with tears streaming down my face and felt extremely deflated and worried at the end. I found week 4 so tough that even though I was completing the runs I was still beating myself up for not finding it easier and was extremely worried about Wk5. BUT...

I had a word with myself, gave myself a pat on the back for not giving up and then moved on to Wk5 anyway. And I can happily report that I have just completed W5 R3! Wk4 for me was the toughest week so far, but I am so glad I kept going and trusted the program.

So congratulations for completing W4 R1 :) Keep moving forward as much as you can and try to embrace positive thinking...you can do this!

Doesn’t sound even remotely silly, we’ve all been there, I’m we’ve all thought exactly what you thinking now, and all the doubt that go with it. You’ll be fine, your fitness is building with each run, so each run is actually preparing you for the next, you’ve got this 💪🏻😊
