Week 9 run 1 found it hard but finished it as I don’t give in. Thing is it only measured 3.8k. There is no way I’ll make 5k in two more runs 🙁

Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Only a small proportion of graduates from this forum who responded to a poll, managed 5k in 30 minutes by graduation healthunlocked.com/couchto5....

Graduation requirements are that you complete three thirty minute runs, regardless of distance.

Enjoy your journey.

It took me another few weeks after graduation if I remember correctly to get to the 5 km goal and that was in 45 mins I think. Your doing great 👏🏻👏🏻. Just keep adding a little bit more every week and you’ll get there. , don’t fret about how long it takes you, that will adjust as the weeks go by and the fitter you get 😊

"Only" 3.8k? You ran for 30 minutes! That is brilliant. Forget the distance, it really doesn't matter at all at this stage of your running journey. 2 more runs then you've graduated

Pace and distance will increase over time but no need to rush it. I didn't hit 5k in 30 minutes until 6 months after I graduated.

Thank you, I really thought I was failing x

Definitely not failing. The programme should really be called "Couch to running for 30 minutes 3 times a week" but that's not quite as catchy!

30 minutes is ‘all’ you need. I’ve just done 9.1 and covered just over 4K in the 30 mins. I’ll not be hitting 5 in 30 for a good long while. Still can’t believe I can run 30 minutes!

Your experience is exactly like mine... I did week 9 last week.. Run 1 4.1k..Run 2..4.4 k and then on run 3 ,I was determined and ran for 36 minutes and did 5 k... At the start of the week I would never have imagined I could do that. I bet you can do it as well.👍🏻
