Painful hip!

I'm starting W9R1 and have stuck rigidly to the programme. Last week I started to have a niggling ache in my left hip. By the end of yesterdays run it was quite sore and hindered the run. I do stretches and exercises on a stability ball on days I don't run. Any suggestions to how I can ease the pain as I really want to finish the programme this weekend. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum and well done your progress.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration, dealing with injury and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

An arbitrary deadline should never take precedence over looking after your body, so rest up until the pain has gone.

Try to minimise the impact and make sure your stretches are appropriate.

Are you wearing good shoes, preferably fitted after a gait analysis done at a specialist running shop?

If the issue persists then get checked out by your GP or physio.

Enjoy your journey.

Just read your FAQ post. I wish I'd found this site 8 weeks ago. A wealth of information and guidance and I love the humour peppered throughout. Thank you so much. Genuinely really helpful for me as a new, lone runner.
