First day on couch 2 5km not going to lie I found it pretty tough tonight. At the start my ankle was hurting from twisting it the other week as I fell down the stairs but I told myself to keep going. After about 5 run minutes I was thinking "I might just walk the next run and do the ones after" but I carried on, and also continued to think the same thought each time it came to a run minute then I heard the words "you're about to do your last minute run" so I pushed through the sickness, through the heat, through the tingle in my face (which I knew at this point would look like a tomato!) But I did it. When. Oh when. Did I let myself get this unfit AGAIN.
Next run is on Sunday!

This will be me tomorrow morning. I will have to go out early, as I can't run after I've eaten and I cannot run in the heat. At least there will be less people about to see me ๐๐ well done!! Xx
I think I might do them either in the morning or late evening as I ate about 6-7 tonight and could still feel it running at 9. Think it added to the sick feeling.
Good luck in the morning! Just keep going through all of them, even if it means you need to drop your pace slightly, you'll feel proud of yourself when it is finished!
Welcome to C25k. And ๐๐๐๐ for getting started. Especially in the hot weather. There is loads of really useful advice and lots of support on this forum.
I never thought Iโd get as far as I have but today with help and motivation I did week6 run 2. So if I can anything is possible.
Best advice Iโve had so far is to drink lots, always have a rest day and go very slow indeed.
Thank you. Definitely having lots of fluids at the moment. Thank you for the advice on looking through posts on here. Having a rest day tomorrow so running every other day with muscle work out in between with 1 full day off both a week. Will have a look through the online support tomorrow
Well done for starting again. It is posts like this that will, hopefully, keep me running. It has been a real slog for me to achieve the graduate stage and the very thought of having to start again gets me up and gets me going.
Big fan of first thing in the morning, air quality is so much fresher and less people around. I badly twisted my ankle a few years ago and it has always been weak since but I got an ankle support from Boots and always wear it when running or doing exercise that might agitate it and find it really helps, might be worth investing in and it would be one less thing to worry about. As you would have read in all the fantastic advice on this forum โslow and steadyโ distance will follow. Look at the info about Japanese slow jogging it is very interesting.
Congrats- the first step is always the hardest. I false started several times but now just done week 7 run 1. I go out in the morning because itโs cooler and no one can see my red face. Keep it slow, pick a great soundtrack and find an interesting route if you can. Keep going!!!
I always run to Bastille ๐ always have done lol. Definitely think morning run is what I'm going to go for. Do you eat before at all or wait until you're back?
Thank you, hopefully it should be alright with it being half hour, part of me feels like I might struggle, as if I'm 'running on empty' pun possibly intended.....
After a few weeks maybe you will consider investing on some nice running shoes and socks to avoid the discomfort in your feet. I ran several times almost in pain until I received the help of a coach to find the appropriate shoes for me. After that it was much easier to increase the time and distance.
I do already have the correct shoes, I've done running in the past and been fitted but it was a while ago so could be worth having them fit me again will go in a couple of weeks, make sure I stick at it first ๐
We do need to change them every 1~2 years, depending on our exercise routine. Also, some fluffier socks may help if you suffer with bunions and hammertoes.
Sometimes I make a good use of adhesive tapes to protect them.
Well done for keeping going and finishing - bet that feels great. I say the same thing about my fitness levels every time I go back to the gym. Youโve got this ๐
When you run, clear your mind completely, a little trick I do is, if a thought comes into your mind visualise an eraser rubbing it out and blowing it away....might sound nuts but it worked for me.....take nice deep breaths as you run and breath out slowly.
Take a look at the link to the You Tube motivational video on my bed to 5k post, I watch it before I go out ๐
Good for you. Iโm starting W3R1 tomorrow. I was very tentative at the start of C25K. Just remember, you should have a day off after a day of running. I do Monโ, Wedโ, and Friโ. Also, make sure you donโt run fast. Take a look at Hiroaki Tanaka on Slow Jogging. Find on U-tube. Thereโs also a book, โSlow Joggingโ by him. I found this helped immensely. One last thing? So far Iโve run for multiples of 90 seconds on each day, as per program. Yesterday I wondered if I could run for maybe ten minutes straight. I did it at home barefoot. I could easily have gone on for I donโt know how long. Barefoot was very comfortable. Do some research Buttercup21, itโll bode you well I believe.
