Ha thanks RunStitches , I think this is my motto from now on!
Ok so first run since Tuesday's trauma (see previous post)
As planned, off to Southport, gait analysis, new running shoes, run along the seafront. Unplanned- the weather was dreadful. Waited for a gap in the rain, no let up in the wind. Ran into the wind for a little while, wind at my back for a little while, then back again in the wind. Sand whipping in my face, no expectations.
I'd promised myself I could stop at 20 mins if I wanted to, you know, new shoes and all. It was the only way I could feel comfortable going after last time. But I was ok, breathing was good, legs felt good, so I kept going... and going.... and did the full 30 mins with the best sprint I've ever done for the last minute. I was so happy.
Then I looked at my distance, not expecting much in the wind... I'd only gone and run 4.1k!!!! Furthest until now was 3.4k. I can't believe it.
So there you go. Remove the heat and humidity, take an extra rest day, change the scene, change the shoes.... everything helps, everything has an effect.
Thank you for all your support last time, everyone. And for all of you who, like me, had terrible runs in the heat, feel encouraged!!
