Penultimate run; feeling amazing and achieved

Just wanted to share how proud I’m feeling for having come so far here, thanks to the support of this group and a loving supportive partner who has, since week 8, been lovely enough to slow his much faster pace down to run alongside me for encouragement. Somehow, I’ve managed to complete a 5K (and a bit), for the first time ever, on today’s run. Just 1 run left to “officially graduate” but already feel I’ve fully benefited from this programme. From being a relatively fit but heavier person, who loves HIIT workouts and strength training but not being able to run for 5 minutes straight without feeling totally winded, I have REALLY improved. I went from someone who hated the thought of running to actually, almost enjoying it now!

I’ve had my bad days, was stuck in a major week 7 rut with foot and knee pains and obsessed about pace and got down about it. I honestly didn’t think I’d be able to run a 5K by this point and that too, at a pace below 7 mins per KM (I know now that endurance is more important anyway), but feeling super amazed at what my body and mind are capable of.

I’ve learnt soo much from this forum, so thank you! I can’t wait to finish on a high tomorrow. 🌟

I’m hoping this is some inspiration for anyone feeling like they’re in a rut, or that they can’t do it. TRUST ME. If I can, so can you. X

👏🏻🥳👏🏻🏃🏻‍♀️👏🏻🏃🏻‍♀️🥳 yay, we are at the same place (although I have been here once before).

It’s such a good feeling and your brain has to stop doubting that you can do it because you are doing it!!!

Definitely don’t worry about pace that’s why I’m repeating this. I injured myself trying to speed up too fast. This time I’m trying to make sure I don’t overdo it I don’t want to spend two more years off and have to start again, again.

Yay! Fellow pace buds!

Thank you for the encouragement! You are absolutely right! As Milton said, “The mind is its own place and in itself can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven.” Really amazing what you can overcome with some positive thoughts and words. I really do wish though, that there was a little more speaking from the coaches on the app, especially in the last 10 minutes or so when you feel yourself flagging! Looking forward to continuing the journey and hopefully slowly building up to a 10k!

Definitely so important to focus on building up strength and stamina over pace. All the best on your continued run journey! Xx

Thanks so much for saying so! I had a quick peek on your profile and notice you got new shoes too. About 6 weeks in, during my rut and nagging left foot and knee pain, I decided to finally get a gait analysis done and upgraded to a brand new pair of Brooks runners. WOW! What a difference that made! You’re definitely on your way. Keep going, keep posting. This group is honestly the best. It’s so nice to see so much glowing positivity around. You can do it! X
